I think the recent swing back towards Russia by some European leaders is economic in nature, not so much the military fear of what Trump’s America might do. They know the inflation in US dollar-creation is heading for hyperinflation, and they’ll be using vast sums from their foreign reserves just to buy minimal amounts of US LPG, which the privatised energy companies in the west are going to have to charge extortionate sums for, massively increasing our own inflation and energy and food poverty and effectively importing the hyperinflation from the US.
Perhaps until recently they had hope they could persuade Trump they need a price break, but his aggressive stance over Greenland and threats of tariffs on all who oppose him made them realise this guy isn’t crooked he’s gangster and too dumb to care they know it. The volte face came at the time Trump said he wants Greenland, masking our economic woes, but if that finally convinces people the US is bad news then it’s as good a reason as any that they come to that conclusion.
