The wife of the Church of England’s most prolific serial abuser has revealed her regret at never standing up to him.

John Smyth groomed and raped more than 100 boys and young men from the 1970s until his death in 2018 at the age of 75, a church report found.

• Targeting a Minor: In a separate incident, a study highlighted that Barton also targeted a 17-year-old goalkeeper, Ava Easdon, after a single mistake in a cup match, referring to women’s football as “Lesbo-ball”.

Legal Consequences
For his actions, Barton received a suspended sentence and was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay prosecution costs. Two-year restraining orders were also issued, prohibiting him from referencing his victims on any social media platform or broadcast medium.
The case has been held up as an example of how online actions have “real world consequences” and that free speech is not unlimited under UK law (which includes harassment and defamation laws). It highlights the intersection of misogyny, racism, and online violence in sport.”

In any case, perhaps the most vehement accusation from Joey Barton IMO was WRT to Jeremy Vine. Vine works for the BBC doesn’t he? Certain proclivities often seem to qualify a person to work there. Mr Welby was installed as Archbishop of Canterbury in March 2013, and in July of that year a victim contacted the Bishop of Ely’s safeguarding adviser with details of the abuse he and others had suffered at the hands of Smyth.
In August 2013, Mr Welby was made aware of the allegations of abuse against Smyth, in his capacity as Archbishop, and was told that police and the local authority had been informed of the allegations, so said nothing

An 86-year-old grandad was fined £250 for spitting out a leaf that below into his mouth. Roy Marsh said he was left ‘anxious about going out’ after being accused of spitting on the floor by an over-eager litter warden.
Mr Marsh’s daughter accused enforcement officers of “unreasonably harassing and terrorising older people” amid claims they had been seen approaching other elderly people over similar mishaps.
Pensioner Mr Marsh was out walking in windy seaside town Skegness when he decided to sit down for a rest, and a leaf suddenly blew into his mouth, threatening to cause him to choke. He was then approached by two officers, one of whom said he had been seen spitting on the floor. As I was sitting there, a gale blew a big leaf into my mouth. I spat it out and just as I got up to walk away two guys (enforcement officers) came up to me,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
After being told by one of the wardens he had been seen spitting on the floor, Mr Marsh said he told the officer he was being a ‘silly boy’.
“It was all unnecessary and all out of proportion,” said Mr Marsh. “It was something that could have happened to anyone. It’s left me anxious about going out.”
Mr Marsh, a father of two and grandfather of one was issued with a £250 fine.
