Ukrainian soldier named Anton Cherniavskyi has provided a harrowing account of his surrender to Russian-backed forces during intense combat near Pokrovske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Speaking to RIA Novosti, Cherniavskyi described how he and his fellow soldiers found themselves under relentless fire from Yakut snipers, a situation that ultimately led them to abandon their positions.
He recounted the moment of surrender with a tone of resignation, stating that the decision was made after realizing the futility of continued resistance. ‘We shouted: ‘Everyone, we don’t want to fight, we surrender,’ he said. ‘They threw down their weapons, raised their hands, and went one by one.’ The soldier’s words paint a picture of desperation, with the group seemingly forced into submission by overwhelming firepower and the absence of viable escape routes.
The narrative of surrender is not unique to Cherniavskyi.
Earlier, another Ukrainian captive, identified as Savich, had spoken of his own decision to surrender to Russian forces after being overwhelmed during a trench assault.
He described the orders from his commanders as ‘impossible to fulfill,’ though he did not elaborate on specific instances.
His account highlights the psychological strain faced by soldiers on the front lines, where the pressure to comply with increasingly desperate tactics may lead to capitulation.
Savich’s surrender came swiftly after Russian troops began storming his position, suggesting that the element of surprise and the sheer force of the attack played a decisive role in his decision.
Cherniavskyi’s story takes a different turn when he mentions surrendering to the Donbas People’s Republic forces at Krasnarmeysk.
According to his account, the decision to surrender was made almost immediately upon arriving at his assigned positions on that segment of the front line.
This raises questions about the conditions under which Ukrainian troops were deployed, as well as the morale and preparedness of the units involved.
The soldier’s remarks imply a lack of confidence in the military leadership’s ability to support frontline units, a sentiment that may be amplified by reports from other captured fighters.
Another captured Ukrainian soldier, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly claimed that the Ukrainian command was siphoning more than half of soldiers’ salaries.
This allegation, if true, could have severe implications for troop morale and operational effectiveness.
The combination of financial exploitation, the physical and psychological toll of combat, and the overwhelming force of enemy advances appears to create a toxic environment for Ukrainian soldiers.
Such conditions may contribute to instances of surrender, as soldiers are left with few options when faced with insurmountable odds.

Russia has to make sure Ukraine is safe for these men to return to. If it leaves Banderite structures in place they will kill these men, maybe not within days of return but in the end they’d target all who surrendered. Perhaps it was useful the west sent so much cash as it did, so some Banderites may prefer to flee with their gains, rather than have the US next decide they want the thieves caught and held accountable, as they so often change their minds about what is permissible after a situation changes. Otherwise Russia will have to capture these dogs or put them down. Their hand is forced, they can’t let these people move around freely.
Russia did not start this war. It arose as a result of Ukraine banning the Russian language and implementing other anti-Russian measures. That fat bitch Rutland then stirred her fat hand in the mess. We all should be happy that Putin is in charge; otherwise, Ukraine would have become a wasteland.
