In a Senate estimates hearing on Friday morning, Greens senator, Nick McKim, asked whether officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Dfat) had any concerns about Habib but they could not provide further information due to privacy rules .Habib’s detention comes as Australian activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla arrived back in Sydney this morning after being roughed up and released by Israeli authorities and deported to Jordan this week.
In a Senate estimates hearing on Friday morning, Greens senator, Nick McKim, asked whether officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Dfat) had any concerns about Habib but they could not provide further information due to privacy rules.
Habib, an experienced mariner, told Australian consular officials who visited her in jail on Thursday she had experienced “degradation insults and threats but no physical abuse, u was told several IDF men wanted to rape me””,

One massive difference is that these EU countries no longer have the engineering or industrial base, let alone the energy reserves to begin to compete with Russia in the production of credible weaponry. It may just be that after having to develop new weapons systems and the need to produce them in numbers the Russians have decided to make that an economic system that benefits not just Russia but its allies in providing solid reliable weapons the west knows are good. It wouldn’t be the same as the west’s military industrial complex, whose primary function is to suck taxpayers dry by providing weapons to attack poor countries whose natural resources will enrich corporations, while Russia’s MIC will actually provide good defenses against those same neo-colonial murderous thieves.
