Zasha Whiteway-Wilkinson – The Daily Mirror March 30, 2025
A confidential Pentagon document has been disclosed, revealing that the U.S. may not come to Europe’s aid in the event of a Russian attack. The internal memo from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is said to prioritise deterring China’s ambitions over Taiwan and bolstering defense measures on U.S. soil.
According to The Washington Post, parts of the memo are strikingly similar to a publication by a conservative think tank involved with Project 2025, almost mirroring it word for word.
The memo outlines Hegseth’s stance that America is unlikely to offer significant support to Europe against Russian aggression. It highlights an expectation for NATO allies to assume the primary role in defending their territory.
The United States, the guidance suggests, will provide nuclear deterrence against Russia but will only commit forces that are not essential for homeland security or missions related to China, reports the Express.
The document underscores the importance of increased defense contributions from European nations, stating that this “will also ensure NATO can reliably deter or defeat Russian aggression even if deterrence fails and the United States is already engaged in, or must withhold forces to deter, a primary conflict in another region.
The latest memo aligns the Pentagon’s strategy with President Trump’s global security concerns, particularly highlighting undefined threats from the “near abroad”. In the document, Trump insists that U.S. forces must be “ready to defend American interests wherever they might be threatened in our hemisphere, from Greenland, to the Panama Canal, to Cape Horn.”
On Friday, March 28, Trump’s declaration “we have to have Greenland” ramped up tensions with Denmark, a NATO ally responsible for the autonomous island’s foreign affairs and defence.
The interim guidance spans nine pages and bears striking resemblances to a more extensive report set for 2024 by the Heritage Foundation, with several sections appearing almost verbatim when compared by The Washington Post.
The Heritage Foundation has not responded to The Washington Post’s request for a statement.

Whitehall has left a generation of teenagers with no hope, says Andy Burnham
Story by Toby Helm Political editor •The number of young people not in education, employment or training has risen to unacceptable levels because Whitehall is failing to listen and respond to their needs, Andy Burnham will say this week,
As all jobs have been given to migrants
The mayor of Greater Manchester will warn in a key speech that the number of “neets”, which now stands at almost 1 million – the highest figure in 11 years – will continue to rise unless the Department for Education (DfE) adopts a new schools policy more geared to their requirements. Over recent weeks, government ministers have attempted to make a “moral” case for welfare cuts and changes to the benefit system, partly by highlighting the number of young people who are not in employment or trying to get work, and instead are living on benefits.
no hopers druggies criminals and carl jones types are becoming the norm
Russia is part of Europe and should be a natural ally, unless Europe carries on pretending to be wog
It’s not that Trump has realised he can’t defend the world that he’s given up, it’s that he’s realised he can’t make the world surrender to him militarily that he’s trying another tack: economics. He will mess that up for sure, because if America could have gone that route to dominate the world it would have done it when the dollar was big and still rising, and trillions spent on warfare wasn’t necessary when top-end tax rates could have been equalised with lower rates. (That’s about the only equality we in the west can expect.)
Trying to take over the world using fiat currency that’s run off the presses like wallpaper or pressed into existence on a screen is unlikely to work. We can’t eat ones and zeros but nor can we be pistol-whipped or shot with them. But exports to America and imports from it or can be stopped easily enough, as can boycotts of their products easily be started. To dominate the world using money America had to be able to buy up at least half of it I would have thought, and it’s nowhere near able with China on the rise.
And why should they? Europe is hell bent on war with Russia so let them fight it. Of course, they’re going to have a very hard time recruiting the, very quickly awakening, public (thanks to blatantly obvious population replacement with mass immigration). Soon civil war will be on the cards, not just in the UK but throughout Europe and most likely the reason western governments want a war, to stop that from happening. European police will get smashed, as they’ve literally transformed into the Stasi and those within the armed forces, will unite with their own people, before the government they are all rapidly falling foul of. But regardless, all of this is planned. Putin, Trump, Macron, Starmer and all other western premiers are all puppets of Jewry. This is just another orchestrated conflict to follow all the previous, daring back to when they took control of Britain after the English Civil War in 1649

Brilliant remark, The Daily Mirror! We now know that the hypothetical may not happen in the event of the hypothetical. Ah, what would we do without ‘journalists’ like Zasha Whiteway-Wilkinson?
Thank you for your astute remarks, MM.

This video says Trump is now threatening to attack Ukraine if it backs out of the minerals deal. I’ve not seen it but I bet he may have made such a threat. Doesn’t he know when to stop throwing threats around? He should wait until he’s cowed Iran. I mean Yemen. No, Gaza. Er, …Greenland? Wait! Panama!
Less than a hundred days in office and already he’s threatened some of the poorest or smallest or least-populated countries.

He should be threatening Israel after this member of the UN at 2m 15s says the UN is digging up a mass grave to retrieve the bodies of murdered Red Cross/Red Crescent medics killed by Israeli gunfire. Amy Goodman said it’s the biggest number of dead emergency responders in the world since last time Israel targeted them.
