Russia is negotiating with the new Syrian authorities on maintaining two of its military bases in the country, at Tartus and Khmeimim, TASS news agency has reported.
Moscow and the Syrian jihadists who seized power in the country last weekend are currently discussing “maintaining Russia’s presence in Syria and its previous status,” according to agency sources reportedly familiar with the negotiations. “The Russian side has secured temporary security guarantees, so the military bases are operating as usual,” the source said.
On December 9, a TASS source reported that the day before, armed formations of then-President Bashar Assad’s opponents had established full control over the provinces of where Russia’s bases are located, but had not invaded either of the compounds.
The situation in Syria has rapidly deteriorated over the past two weeks, since assorted militants led by the Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS) jihadist group launched an offensive against the country’s troops, taking over major cities and ending up in Damascus. After the collapse of the Syrian military, Assad fled the country, and was granted asylum in Russia.
According to a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian diplomats have already discussed several issues with the HTS political committee, including “ensuring the security of our diplomatic mission and Russian citizens who are on the territory of Syria.”
In 2017, Moscow and Damascus agreed to the stationing of Russian troops at the Tartus and Khmeimim bases for a further 49 years.

Labour MPs who oppose a ban on puberty blockers have a ‘misunderstanding’ of medical evidence, Baroness Cass has claimed.
The paediatrician penned a landmark report into NHS gender identity services for children and young children earlier this year, which said there was not enough evidence to support the drug’s safety or effectiveness.

Several Labour backbenchers and Green MPs criticised the move in Parliament, labelling it an attack on children and pushing them to have sex change operations is a ‘breach of young people’s human rights’.
Baroness Cass, who took her seat in the House of Lords in October, told The Times: ‘What is worrying is when people say that if children don’t get these drugs, they will die, because clearly that’s not true.’
The suicides are mainly from children given these operations and later find it was forced on them
Interesting how RT is not currently blocked. During commencement of the Ukraine theatre, you had to use the Tor Browser to bypass ISP blocking.

The question as to, “Why Russia didn’t say anything about the faking of the Apollo business?” might be added, “Why did Russia do xxxx all when Assad was ‘removed’ ?” Could it be that the leaderships tied to international capital all piss into the same pot?
It must be noted that during the “Cold War” Arab states were misled about the Soviet Union’s supposed backing of the Palestinian cause. Indeed the fake backing of Arab states reminds me of Great Britain’s fake backing of the White Russian faction against the Red faction. Given the number of Israeli colonists from Eastern Europe and Russia, it was no wonder that the ties of the Ashkenazi to bonds of ethnicity should outweigh fake dialectic of the “Cold War”. Most of the Jihadis in the invasion force are not from a Syrian background and have no right to take over the Government of Syria. They are just foreign invaders with a penchant for extra-judicial murders.
