I was listening to the Colonel being interviewed by Glenn Diesen, a Norwegian professor who is usually astute, but I was disappointed to find Glenn was fooled by the old propaganda that the US contained the USSR during the Cold War, when US actions soon after the collapse of the Wall in 1989 prove it was the existence of the USSR which constrained the US. After the Wall fell the US became very aggressive.
Two months into 1991 under George HW Bush the US used deception to trick Saddam into taking back Kuwait. The “country” of Kuwait was the southern region of Mesopotamia, before the victors of WWI divided it into Iraq and the oil-rich region now known as Kuwait. The US has been at war for pillage ever since, and until my last breath I will insist it was containing the US which caused the Cold War.
During the Cold War all we ever heard was our side’s version of everything, nothing of of Russia’s. Sure, Russia was heavy on the propaganda at that time–so we were constantly told, but was it?–and so was the 99% shit we were constantly fed by our own side only. Their news was never true and honourable.
Few of us believe the MSM today, but we should be careful not to readily accept as fact old news from the same western media in a time before we were able to search out independent sources. They lie now and they lied then and were more able and perhaps just as willing to do so. It’s just that back then the masses were better educated so they had to present the news as though it had substance, whereas now to convince the purposely less-educated they just go for slick.
