In one sense the Ukraine conflict is over. In another sense it is dangerously expanding.
Biden and Putin are taking the path to nuclear war. Biden by providing long range missiles to Ukraine, and Putin by refusing to use sufficient force to bring the conflict to an end before it spins out of control.
To again repeat my warning, by allowing the war to drag on, Putin is inviting more provocations and more dangerous provocations. Putin’s way of fighting the conflict has cost far more lives than a quick and total military victory which would have been over before Western involvement could be organized.
The Kremlin should have seen the Maidan Coup in the works and stopped it. Failing this, the Kremlin should have accepted the request of Donbass in 2014 to be reincorporated into Russia like Crimea. Instead, the Kremlin sat on its hands for 8 years with a totally unrealistic belief in the Minsk Agreement while the US built an army for Ukraine, the Kremlin itself making little, if any, preparation. When the Kremlin finally was forced to intervene in Donbass, the bulk of the fighting was done by a small private military force, the leader of which was disgusted by the Kremlin’s defeatist restraint. Putin broke up this superb fighting force, and its leader died in a suspicious airplane crash.
It seems the Kremlin is always caught off guard and unprepared. This is a certain road to nuclear war.

As I’ve been saying for a long time, Putin made some big mistakes early on by not going for a quick win, and PCR is right, it is heading towards nuclear war.

Given that UKraine and Russia had a deal six weeks in, then a short shock and awe, with nukes. This war would’ve been over after 10 days, tops, and UKraine would never join NATO, and 600, to 700k thicko sheeple saved. Short war and tactical nukes, maybe 30,000 dead.
It is possible to dial these nukes down, and to have them pretty clean, but the effects are devastating, especially in the fake news watched by thicko sheeple.
And all this, as Putin says the navy is at 100% readiness, & and that 95% of nuclear systems have been modernised, which means they are good to go.
Like any manager, you have sheeple above you, and below you, pulling you in all directions. Putin sayings this is aimed at multiple audiences. His sheeple, his elite sheeple, and the Nazis.
Putin is coming under enormous pressure to make a decisive move, and if he doesn’t, he’s gone.

There is another possibility that Mr. Roberts ignores. As the conflict grinds on, it drains the entire West of its weapons of war, and weakens the West financially. If and when it comes time for war, the U.S. and Europe may find it impossible to execute.
Perhaps as Mr. Roberts suggests, “the Kremlin is always caught off guard and unprepared.” But perhaps Mr. Putin’s strategy is deeper and well-considered.

Certainly, it is true that by taking a slow approach Russia sends out the false and alluring message that its red lines are written in invisible ink. NATO grows ever more infuriated by its failures and like some compulsive gambler may seek to constantly up the stakes. Let’s not forget that the Ukies were stuffed full of weapons, advisors, training, money right from 2014 and were no walkover as it was all of NATO v Russia not just Ukie.
However, Russia has to take into consideration that NATO spends around 10x more than it does on war budget (defense spending…) and still this is not enough according to ghouls such as Stoltenberg. By pouring everything into the Uki sector it could leave itself dangerously open to attack on another front so caution is inevitable. After Ukraine is settled one way or another, Finland will become the next Ukraine- wait for border provocations, opening of a dozen NATO bases there, a US war-gamer’s wet dream . Already the newly installed (elected…) Finnish President Stubb (US educated…) is Zelensky’s best new pal and openly wants to have nuclear weapons stationed there – despite it being against the constitution- change that guys! But, Finland is a big country with a very small population so it cannot withstand massive casualties.
Unlike America and its allies/interests, Russia does not degrade enemy infrastructure to the extent of bombing it into oblivion-provided there’s no real danger of air defense of course. It wants to leave Uki intact where possible and by so doing they believe that they can win by inducing apathy to the war and or hostility to the Zelensky regime from the populace. This is where they are making a serious mistake. Putin is clearly obsessed by the idea of forcing Zelensky into surrender or to the negotiation table where he will have to sign some treaty, a piece of legalistic idiocy. This of course will never happen- Zelensky will flee to his enormous money in the West or else be offed by Azov elements – who might like to make it look like a Russian assassination .
Every month that has passed has seen NATO up the ante and send ever increasing weapons and more importantly, money to Ukraine some 200 billion € so far, a staggering sum and a lot of it spent not on weapons, infrastructure either. It has ever since independence been one of the most corrupt countries on earth and this has accelerated ever since the war. The money not so much the weapons is vital as it pays salaries, subsidises everything, allows cheap agri exports to the EU, buys Russian energy and keeps the population from rebelling or defecting. The fact that most of the real money goes to the oligarchs, militias and thugs matters not, so far. In tandem, as the type of weapon made available to the Ukies is ever expanded- tanks, fighter aircraft, long range missiles where will it end? Will President Monats Binden come jibbering on the screen to announce that Ukie merits tactical nukes in October on the eve of his re-election??
So, the time is now for Russia to strike at its enemy with unambiguous conviction or else the author of this article may very well be proved correct and most of Europe will cease to exist -best case scenario that is.
One possible reason the east has advanced in weapons technology faster than we have is because the east doesn’t have education fees like we do. Missile technology is basically rocket science, and being a rocket scientist might bring you some prestige but it’s unlikely to earn you more than 120K, while costing you at least that much in university fees. You’re walking into debt before you even get your own desk, so weighing up that debt against your aptitude for maths you’d be better off in Wall Street where the salary is much higher so your student debt can be paid off much more quickly.
With free education in the east students don’t have those dilemmas.
