The New Voice of Ukraine – Feb 22, 2024

Ukraine will have the right to defend itself, including the ability to strike Russian military targets within Russia that are part of the invasion efforts, once Ukraine receives F-16 fighter jets from its allies, stated NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in a Radio Liberty interview on Feb. 21.

Stoltenberg emphasized the eagerness of Ukraine’s allies to deploy the F-16s swiftly but noted the importance of comprehensive training for pilots and extensive preparation for maintenance crews and support staff to maximize the jets’ impact.

“So, I think we have to listen to the military experts exactly when we will be ready to or when allies will be ready to start sending and delivering the F-16s,” he said. “The sooner the better.”

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine constitutes aggression, granting Ukraine the right to defend itself, even by striking legitimate Russian military targets outside of Ukraine’s borders, added Stoltenberg.
