It’s amazing how patient and accommodating Colonel Macgregor is with his interviewers: He has said elsewhere a number of things he says in this interview. The opinionated interviewer pushes him into doing this. Yet never once does the Colonel just refer him to what he wrote in the American Conservative, or said on other shows. Rather, he generously gives his painstaking, lucid answers. This brilliant man is a natural educator.
One thing I have heard him touch on before, without having fleshed it out as he does here, is his largely negative evaluation of the being-a-state capacity of Ukraine. He is unequivocally right in this. I would bet heavily that this is also why the US/UK duo chose Ukraine to fight its proxy war, and not the ever-willing Poland. The name ‘Ukraina’, exactly as the Colonel says, is perfectly self-descriptive: U [in] KRAINA [the border land/hinterland].
Ukraine did not even have clear borders until Septermber 1991. Little wonder that it has had a series of bad-joke governments since then: its body-politic has simply not had time to mature, and hence its extreme susceptibility even to the least likely of seducers, like the porn-dancing clown Zelenski.
