Days before the Western mainstream media could put its spin on events, videos and photos of wrecked Ukrainian tanks and fighting vehicles were all over the internet.
As far as Ukraine’s backers in the corporate media were concerned there was no going back. They had to acknowledge that Ukrainian forces had taken casualties and then move on.
That’s what the Guardian tries to do in the following but readers will note that it makes no attempt to see how this fits into the broader Ukrainian counteroffensive. That’s because what happened at Mala Tokmachka is symptomatic of what happened across Ukraine’s counteroffensive as a whole.
Ukrainian forces made little headway and took heavy casualties in the process. Unfortunately, we don’t think that this will make Ukraine’s backers see reason. The West is already getting ready to double down with Spain and Germany pledging to send more Leopard II tanks to Ukraine.
Meanwhile the article goes onto quote Phillips P O’Brien, professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews, who says such losses are to be expected.
In other words, the West really does intend to fight to the last Ukrainian and it’s using the media and various pundits like O’Bien in order to achieve that. As a result young Ukrainian teenagers are being recruited and sent to the frontline with just 3 or 4 days basic training.
Having fought in the Rhodesian Army Special Forces I know that that is just not enough. I was only sent into battle after six months basic training and even then I went in as part of a four-man team, with the other three being battle-hardened veterans who watched over me.
Sending such young recruits with so little training to the front is symptomatic of a regime on its last legs.
My heart goes out to these young Ukrainians. Truly, they are being sent like lambs to the slaughter while the Western MSM cheers them on. Ed.
Ukraine’s failed Mala Tokmachka assault lays bare counteroffensive challenges

The footage that began circulating on Russian social media channels last week depicted what was portrayed as a significant military setback for Ukraine at the beginning of its counteroffensive.
In a flat, open area south of Zaporizhzhia – bisected by hedges and a wide muddy track – about 12 Ukrainian armoured vehicles had become pinned down, bunched too close together near a minefield.
In one video, shells and rockets can be seen tearing into the ground and into vehicles, including one of Ukraine’s new German-supplied Leopard tanks and US Bradleys. Soldiers can be seen running through the smoke from one damaged vehicle to another.
When the shooting was finally over, several Ukrainian soldiers were dead. Smashed vehicles had been left abandoned. Russian commentators were crowing over the failure.

As part of a wider effort in that area of the frontline, 20 Ukrainian armoured vehicles led by two specialised mine-clearing vehicles set off in what appears to have been a “breaching operation”, targeting an area of higher ground held by Russian forces.
Not long afterwards, brief posts on social media described how the column ran into difficulty close to a minefield, losing many of its vehicles.
According to the UK television news channels, it’s all a ‘great victory’ for Ukraine. And the British goyim believe it all. Ask practically any THICKBRIT on the street if the UK should attack Russia directly and they will say ‘Yes’.

With these old men and boy conscripts being sent to certain death in fighting conditions not so different to the slaughter of WWI maybe we should stop calling them conscripts and start calling them ghosts. Maybe even the callous western elites responsible for this may step back a little if from hereafter they are asked how many ghosts are being trained abroad and how many ghosts are they sending into the next battle?
It has a kind of expectation and finality to it hard to just brush aside.
It seems that the real function of the Ukraine war is to drain the West of its capacity to wage war. Ammunition and weapons stockpiles are dwindling everywhere, as more and more munitions get shipped to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the U.S. and its European “allies” keep beating their chests as if they have the capacity to wage war. What may lie ahead is either ignominious defeat for the West or a nuclear confrontation that will functionally destroy the world economy.
Traitors seems to be running the show in every western government.
Haven’t read the rest of The Guardian story – as in made-up – because it requires registration, but I read the Newsweek article linked and it is hopeless – Western MSM, I mean.
They don’t bother getting different ‘experts’, they just keep on using the same ones – even though someone like me, who resents every minute wasted on Current Affairs, but keeps getting drawn back in , can remember how spectacularly wrong these ‘experts’ were before.

It took me no time or effort at all – I simply typed ‘Ben Hodges predicts Russia loses’ in the Search Engine and there it all is, this one dated 23/2/23 –

The seasoned ex-commander said the latest Russian recruits being sent to the frontline for a new offensive were ‘undertrained and underprepared” and were being “sent to the meat grinder”.
And Gen Hodges added: “I see no other outcome but a Russian defeat. ‘
