UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said peace negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine were “not possible at this moment,” in an interview published by Spanish daily El Pais on Tuesday.
His statement came as the leaders of Russia and Ukraine both called for victory during events commemorating the end of World War II.
“It is clear that the [two] parties are completely absorbed in this war” and “are convinced that they can win,” the UN chief was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Guterres said he hoped it was possible “in the future” to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday at Moscow’s Red Square Victory Day parade that the world was at a “turning point” and claimed a “war” had been unleashed against Russia.
The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that Russian forces would be vanquished “just as Nazism was defeated.”
On Tuesday, Guterres received the Carlos V European Award, given to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the enhancement of Europe’s cultural and historical values or to EU integration.
“Universal values, principles and ideas which unite us as the human family… have not been under so much threat since the creation of the United Nations,” Guterres said.
“That’s why we have to raise our voice and reaffirm our values. And above all, we need peace,” he added.
What a bunch of crap. Noticed how these so called leaders all get awards or noble awards to give them an authentic, credible platform when really none exists except lies and deception. Look at all the so called leaders that got awards in the past. obama who bombed around 7 countries during his eight years of puppetry, gates, Montagnier ( for science falsehoods) and the list goes on. All fakery to prompt themselves up to fool the masses. But, finally we have awoken and refuse to be deceived by all these corrupt governments and NGO.
I wonder if NATO countries are smart enough to realize it’s not a good idea signing-up to join the military?
And those that are serving not to extend their service?
That may be the best way to prevent the big war. Unfortunately those who want the war are going to make it very lucrative to join up and to remain in.

Russians may feel remorse killing Ukrainians, but killing NATO soldiers there will be none.

He’s got a point there – the creation of the UN in 1945 certainly was a big step towards the destruction of universal values and principles.

They told us at the outset: The Ukrainians will fight to the last Ukrainian. At the moment, more than half of them (approx 18 million, according to Colonel Macgregor) are still living in Ukraine, or, more accurately, have not left Ukraine. So Guterres, von der Leyen and Stoltenberg are seeing to it that their number is reduced ever closer to 1. That will be mission accomplished for the UN, the EU and NATO. This is so very obvious: Not one of the trio that heads these outfits ever utters a word about the urgent need for a cease-fire and peace talks.
Putin the winner will take it all !
