This is probably the best of Colonel Macgregor’s brilliant series of analyses. One thing I should love to hear him expand upon is his brief gesture in the direction of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569–1648). Was he hinting at how this war will resolve, i.e., with a revival of that union reclaiming Kiev and Lviv, and Russia taking control of the rest of the Ukraine? Might this be what President Putin meant by Ukraine’s disappearing off the map of the world?
That would be a pretty good thing. The Ukraine never did manage to become a nation state. That is what left it vulnerable to the simplistic seduction of Vicky Nudelman’s Maidan. That could have happened only to the Ukrainians, a people without an anchor. Obviously enough, it was their tenuously based nationalism (nurtured and monied by the local Jewish oligarchs and the American neocons!) that facilitated the present-day stand-off of the world’s two great nuclear powers.

Now that Rumania has sent up two MiG 21s to take a look at a balloon said to have entered its airspace I’m starting to wonder if a devious plan is evolving out of all this as “sightings” are increasing not easing off. It wouldn’t surprise me if the US is building up tension to prepare us for the potential fall-out from a deliberate air attack on Russian aircraft, with an excuse ready if the response is more serious than NATO can handle. If the response is weak they may continue and that push could become the involvement of NATO; but if the response is heavy then their draw-back story would be that an unknown aircraft caused them to react defensively and we’re sorry, don’t feel too bad about it, you should call off your attack etc.
Or maybe I just no longer trust the cheating, murderous Americans.
