MOSCOW, Jan 16 (Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Monday that tanks Britain plans to send to Ukraine “will burn”, warning the West that supplying a new round of more advanced weapons to Ukraine would not change the outcome of the war.
Since President Vladimir Putin ordered troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24, the United States and its allies have given tens of billions of dollars’ worth of weaponry including rocket systems, drones, armoured vehicles and communications systems.
Britain said on Saturday it would send 14 of its Challenger 2 main battle tanks as well as other advanced artillery support in the coming weeks.
“They are using this country [Ukraine] as a tool to achieve their anti-Russian goals,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked about the British tanks.
“These tanks are burning and will burn just like the rest,” Peskov said.
Peskov said the new supplies from countries like Britain and Poland would not change the situation on the ground, but were an attempt to draw out the conflict which he said would ultimately bring “more troubles” on Ukraine.
Putin said in an interview aired on Sunday that the military operation in Ukraine had gained positive momentum and that he hoped his soldiers would deliver more wins after Russia claimed control of the eastern Ukrainian salt-mining town of Soledar.
The Kremlin chief now casts the war in Ukraine as an existential battle with an aggressive and arrogant West, and has said that Russia will use all available means to protect itself and its people against any enemy.
The United States and its allies have condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as an imperial-style land grab, while Ukraine has vowed to fight until the last Russian soldier is ejected from its territory.
Vladimir Solovyev, a pro-Kremlin presenter on Rossiya 1 state television, said any Western countries which supplied more advanced weapons to Ukraine should be considered legitimate targets for Russia.
“De-facto, Britain has entered the war,” Solovyev told his flagship Sunday night talk show on state television. “I consider Britain is now a legitimate target for us.”
His comments were followed by a discussion on state television with lawmaker Andrei Gurulyev about the utility of resuming Russia nuclear testing so that the whole world “shuddered”, and even of wiping out Britain.
“If there is no London, then we would have victory,” Gurulyev said. “On Britain, I said six months ago that it should be wiped from the face of the earth.”
Ukraine’s allies are due to meet in Ramstein, Germany on Friday to discuss providing it with more arms. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is under pressure to allow the export of Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine by Germany, which makes them, and other countries that have them.

Today the Daily Fail says the UK has 227 Challenger 2 battle tanks, but goes on to say, ‘many are not in combat condition’.
Strange, or not, that the Fail can’t state as a reported fact, how many Challenger 2 tanks are fully combat ready?
About a decade ago, it was reported that there were only 28 battle ready battle tanks, and the rest were being stripped for parts. My best guess is that 28 is probably the current state of the UK battle tank fleet, and I say this because they need X number for training, and some will be being serviced.
I think sending 14 to Nazi UKraine is probably right on the limit, as the article points out, the UK is being left in a very weakened state.
Fear not, the Challenger 3 is on its way, but my guess is that we’ll be lucky to see 100 built, and 80 will be automatically mothballed. Just another corporate GDP lush.
This consignment will include ‘recovery vehicles’ for these Challenger 2 tanks. So think about the logistics. Tank breaks down on the front, it is then recovered, and driven back to Poland. What are the chances of this being successful? This, if they survive, will be the first recovery of any armoured vehicle on the Nazi side, because they are abandoned.
So this is consignment is just another excuse to get British military personnel as close to the fight as possible, and even inside UKraine. I know there are British mercenaries, SAS, and MI6 goons on the ground in UKraine.
I am not sure I want to suffer because I never voted for a Tory gov’t and I never voted for Sunak as party leader, but as usual in our undemocratic system, only a minority votes for a new leader of the party in power to put this little turd as PM instead of a General Election which would be better, well actually it might be worse with trilateral commission member Starmer as PM, but we are all suffering and wiping out the elitist pigs with a nuclear weapon would be welcomed.
Unfortunately what will happen, is that everyone else will die and they end up surviving. I would welcome a Russian invasion of the UK instead to be honest.

It’s reported a top US General was amongst other US high-level administration officials visiting Ukrainian troops in Kiev on Monday 16th Jan. Officials in a war zone is nothing new but a General of a supposedly non-combatant army which is clearly arming one side is not nothing. It’s a major US provocation if true.
