I agree with all you say about the main battle tanks that the western armies are currently intending to send to the war in Ukraine. The degree of training required to operate them is not something that can be achieved in weeks or even months and will require direct on the ground assistance from those donor countries to make any difference. However you omitted a far more important requirement for these weapons to make any contribution of a sustained nature and that is maintenance. Normally a tank will operate in the field in various tasks for a period of hours until its fuel and ammunition runs out, also the crews will need rest therefore it will have to retire to the rear for replenishment and maybe repair. The maintenance crews will then work through the night to make that tank serviceable in order to return it to combat. The work will be extensive, also complicated and spare parts will be needed all the way up to replacement engines, the Ukrainians do not have the level of skill needed to carry out these tasks, and again the donor countries will have to provide this.
I enjoy your work and have followed you ever since you began and wrote under the name of Tony Cartalucci.
I think the British Challenger talk used depleted uranium shells. Could Brian talk about his? Because uranium has far higher density than other metals it means they have a longer range and much greater penetrating power. Does this mean DU pollution of Ukraine?
It’s sad to learn that so many soldiers, both Russian and Ukrania, have died in this conflict and been treated like pawns in a game of chess. It goes to show that, by the West at least, their deaths don’t seem to mean anything.
