Introduction
Melitopol is in the Zaporozhye region, which was officially declared part of Russia in early October, along with Kherson Region and the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, after voters in these regions voted overwhelmingly to rejoin the Russian Federation in public referendums.
So you can safely ignore the Guardian’s mealy-mouthed description of Melitopol being under Russian occupation. As far as Russia and most of Melitopol’s residents are concerned it is part of Russia.
The Guardian’s misrepresentation is bad enough because it obscures the fact that the rocket attack amounts to an attack on Russia itself. However, making matters even worse is the fact that the attack was carried out using U.S. supplied HIMARS rocket launchers.
To put that in perspective: imagine if Russia was supplying missiles to Mexican insurgents who were claiming part of Texas belonged to Mexico. You can imagine the uproar in the U.S. media if that were to happen.
Well, this amounts to the same thing but for one crucial element that the Guardian omits to mention and which may make matters even worse.
That crucial element is who was operating the HIMARS launchers that targeted Melitopol? Were they Ukrainian troops? Or were they as others have suggested Western “security contractors”?
As Brian Berletic has explained, it takes months to properly train soldiers to operate a HIMARS system accurately. Making it more than likely that Western mercenaries launched the rockets that struck Melitopol on Saturday night.
So, in effect we have Western “security contractors” launching U.S. supplied rockets at a town whose inhabitants and Moscow consider to be part of Russia.
If this doesn’t seem like it has the potential to escalate into something much bigger then I don’t know what does. Although you might not realise the potential magnitude of what’s unfolding from the following Guardian report. Ed.
Ukrainian strike hits Russian barracks in occupied Melitopol

Ukraine has attacked a barracks in the Russian-occupied city of Melitopol with some Ukrainian sources claiming scores of Russian casualties.
According to witnesses 10 explosions were heard, although some of those may have been from Russian anti-aircraft systems. Ukrainian officials claimed scores of Russian dead and injured while Russia conceded a handful of casualties.
Video footage posted on social media showed what was claimed to be a Russian barracks in the southern city engulfed in a fierce blaze with some claiming the site was being used by the Wagner mercenary group.
Another video showed rescue workers in the ruins with several bodies visible.
The site, a former resort and hotel complex next to a church in the city known as the Hunter’s Halt, was being used as a barracks with most of the casualties apparently in a mess hall when it was hit.
The strike on Melitopol – reportedly with Himars rockets – was one of several overnight on Russian bases. Explosions were also reported overnight in the Russian occupied Crimea including Sevastopol and Simferopol.
A senior official in eastern Ukraine said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had attacked a hotel where members of Russia’s private Wagner military group were based, leading to “significant losses”.
Serhiy Haidai, governor of the Russian-occupied Luhansk region, said forces launched a strike on Saturday on a hotel in the town of Kadiivka, west of the region’s main centre of Luhansk. Photos posted on Telegram channels showed a building largely reduced to rubble. “A huge number of those who were there died.”
Russia’s defence ministry was not immediately available for comment and his claims could not be verified.
Not read the Guardian’s filth, but as I’ve said in a few recent comments, Putin must go.
Russia now needs a leader who will do what is required, such as striking the UK, & the US base Ranstein, in Germany.
Putin recently held a security council meeting, and it appears the decision was ‘steady as she goes’. I can for the life of me believe that more than half at this meeting were in total support of Putin’s approach. I think there’s now moves at the top, to replace Putin with a leader who will fight the UK and US.
NATO is broken. There are too many members who won’t fight Russia, such as France and Germany. They don’t want their lands turned into a radioactive crust.
There’s a chance, that when the wider conflict kicks off, its going to be between the UK, US and Poland. We aren’t talking big troop battles, because there’s nothing to fight for in destroyed UKraine.
This will be missiles and maybe nukes. The new Russian leader would well advised to strike the UK for its acts of International terrorism.
No one is going to come to Nazi UK’s aid. The Yanks are just chicken, unless its some impoverished land, & the big European players don’t want their countries burned.
Even if Russia wiped out Ramstein, it is very doubtful the US would retaliate in kind. The simple truth, is that Amerika would be totally destroyed. Every US carrier group would be nuked to the bottom of the sea, and China would inherit the Earth, and Taiwan. lol

There’s no mention of such an attack in Melitopol in South Front reports but perhaps they are enough pro-Russia that they would discreetly omit this. There is no “perhaps” where the Guardian is concerned however. It is fanatically pro-Ukraine. This is definitely the fog of war and I hope that there were very few Russian casualties if the barracks attack story is true.

Did this actually happed? Report of this event comes from the exiled governor alone, who cannot even have been on the scene. And Reuters could not verify his story:

A stray thought: Have the HIMARS, promised by the US in latish October, actually arrived in the Ukraine? But the burning question is put in the Introduction:

I can’t believe Putin has allowed these attacks on Russia to go unpunished.
