Boris Johnson says the UK is looking at sending British tanks to Poland – after it was revealed Ukrainian troops are in Britain being trained for the first time since the start of the Russian invasion.

The Challenger 2 tank has been the mainstay of the British Army since the 1990s and saw action in the Iraq War. The 64-tonne vehicles are due to go out of service in 2025, but the Army still has a fleet of more than 200. Click to enlarge
Speaking during a news conference in New Delhi, where he held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister today said the Government was contemplating sending Challenger 2 tanks to eastern Europe to replace Soviet-era T-72 tanks the Poles are shipping to Ukraine.
Mr Johnson told reporters: ‘I think perhaps what I haven’t said publicly before is we’re also looking more at what we can do to backfill in countries such as Poland who may want to send heavier weaponry to help defend the Ukrainians.
‘So we’re looking at sending tanks to Poland to help them as they sending some of their T-72s to Ukraine.’

Ministers had considered donating the tanks directly to Ukraine. However Ukrainian forces are not trained in their use and there were also concerns about their ability to repair them. Instead, Ukraine will receive familiar tanks from Poland and other Eastern European states.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz meanwhile said he feared that sending tanks directly to Ukraine could spark a third world war.
The UK is already one of the biggest donors of weapons to Ukraine, with the Ministry of Defence supplying hundreds of anti-tank missiles, along with anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles, ammunition and medical supplies.
It comes as it was yesterday revealed that Ukrainian troops are in Britain being trained to use armoured vehicles supplied by the Ministry of Defence to repel Vladimir Putin‘s forces.
More than 20 soldiers arrived last week in the UK for training on the 120 vehicles being supplied to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky‘s resistance as Boris Johnson steps up military support to help in the war.
As well as being trained on the Mastiff, Wolfhound and Husky armoured vehicles, the Ukrainians will be shown how to use the Samaritan ambulance, and Sultan and Samson armoured reconnaissance vehicles.
The Prime Minister confirmed last night for the first time that Ukrainian forces were in the UK to journalists travelling with him in India, where he is pressing for a loosening of ties with Russia.
‘I can say that we’re currently training Ukrainians in Poland in the use of the anti-aircraft defences and actually in this country (the UK) in the use of the armoured vehicles,’ he told reporters.
Further Ukrainian forces are expected to be making their way to the UK for training in the future. The Prime Minister’s press secretary said ‘a couple of dozen’ Ukrainians were currently in the UK for training.
In other developments:
- The Kremlin revealed terrifying plans to seize Ukraine’s entire southern coast and to invade Moldova, where it claims Russian speakers are being oppressed;
- Columns of Russian tanks patrolled Mariupol as reports claimed 9,000 Ukrainians may be buried in mass graves there;
- Moscow refused Ukraine’s offer of a four-day truce over the Orthodox Easter weekend;
- Russia’s armed forces have suffered more than 13,000 deaths, with another 7,000 troops said to be missing in action, according to a pro-Kremlin website, which later deleted the claim.

These arms/vehicles represent a tiny addition to the UKraine theater, and that’s if the Russians don’t destroy these assets as they cross the border.
What is Boris really doing? He’s basically giving The MIC a huge order book, because UK military hardwear is pretty decrepit. Not that many years ago, it was disclosed that the UK army had 28 operational battle tanks, and that other mothballed tanks were being used for spare parts. Of course, things might have changed since then. Maybe the regime has provided more debt money for tanks, I’ve no idea, but one thing I do know, the UK is much more bankrupt now, than it was when the 28 battle tank story was published.
I say the UK is bankrupt, but a state which prints, or digitally creates money from thin air, they can do this infinitely, and this is why, or one of the main reasons for the rise in inflation. Inflation is caused by Central Banks, and they all work in a coordinated fashion.
Biden blames Putin for inflation, but US and Western inflation was already rocketing way before UKraine. But don’t worry you little cotton socks, the thicko sheeple all believe its Putin’s fault.
seems the poles itching their fur +
want repeat 1939 . they never learn .
ZOGUK – that Perfidious Entity that’s ALREADY instigated TWO World Wars – doing it’s best to provoke a THIRD.
Ukraine is to the Deep State what Chicago’s South Side was to Capone. Moolah. Lots of it. That’s why these political gangsters are fighting for it, and as with drive-by shootings and bombings they don’t care who gets hurt because so far it’s not them. That’s why Russia should target them personally. Change the face of warfare forever. Kill enough of them who start war and it could end warfare forever.
I knew Britain had stupid and evil government but this is even beyond what I would expect. They get not one atom of support from me. They think their cynical lies can move us.
Carl Jones you are right.
The USA is also sending obsolescent JUNK to Ukraine as is Canada and even Spain. On their books they will inflate the prices of this hardware to pretend they are sending BILLIONS in aid to Ukraine. Bilge. Ukraine is the new scrapyard for crooked regimes worldwide.
@The Realist.
Exactly. Britain has been behind every major European war since 1750. It should be Russia’s primary target. There will never be peace in Europe until Britain is destroyed.
I almost swallowed my cup of coffee, cup and all: You are quoting information from the UK’s Daily Mail! To the Brits, that rag is the ‘Daily Fail’, written by liars and read by fools.
FSB should train masses of assassines
like the mossad + send them througout
the world to find + hunt down the jew
plutocrates behind their guarded fortresses.
Britain has tanks? Are you sure that shouldn’t be banks? Or yanks? Or w…
No wait, it’s “challenger” tanks. In the uk, there are “challenger” banks, so I can only assume that these “tanks” are the same: crooked things run by foreigners that are only there to make you think there is some kind of competition to the dictators.
More money sucked from the taxpayers. Are you really that stupid to think all the money goes toward this equipment. The Ticks you comically call leaders is stealing you blind,,, and you love it!
Sophie Johnson: yes Sophie, the Dail Fail is everything you say it it, but it’s so crude and in your face, that DF presstitutes give away much than the words on the screen. They meet with xyz for dinner, fine wines, & sherbet, one night, and the air will be blue with their extreme prejudices. A day or two later, or in the early hours, the copy will be done. The more lies and yarns, the more one can read between the lines.
I’m still reading the Daily Fail, but I’ve almost given up with the BBC, maybe some Today. The thing is, BBC lies and yarns are beyond boring. You can even sense the presenters voice changes as they spew another lying line. You learn very little from the BBC these days.
