Despite what the Mail claims below, the situation in Ukraine is NOT a replay of the Cuba crisis. Now the roles are reversed as the West is deploying its military closer and closer to Russia’s Western border.
Crucial among the weapons being deployed by NATO are missile defences in Poland and the Czech Republic. The next step in NATO’s steady eastern advance would be to deploy medium range missiles in Poland, and if Kyev joins NATO, in Ukraine too.
This is what Russia dreads and why it is adamantly opposed to Ukraine joining NATO. Deploying medium range nuclear missiles in Ukraine would mean NATO would be only a matter of minutes from striking Moscow.
Over the past few decades NATO has shifted its focus steadily eastwards, to the point that its forces are now effectively on Russia’s doorstep. Hitler used blizkrieg tactics and Napoleon used his Grande Armee while NATO is taking a more incremental approach.

The world is heading for a new Cuban missile crisis in Ukraine if the West fails to deal with Russia‘s security demands ‘here and now’, Moscow said today.
This came amid a new round of major military exercises by Vladimir Putin‘s troops in an evident bid to warn NATO of the seriousness of the situation ahead of the New Year.
Videos showed the latest Russian drills – some close to Ukraine – amid fears Putin will invade if the West fails to meet his demands.
Hawkish deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov denied he was exaggerating in comparing the current crisis to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
‘No, not too much,’ he said in an interview with Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn magazine when asked if his comparison was ‘too much.’
There are fears a war could erupt between Russia and Western-ally Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Ryabkov appeared to rule out a Russian compromise on seeking cast-iron guarantees that Ukraine would not join NATO, and promises not to deploy strike weapons in eastern European countries which are members of the western alliance.
‘I call on everyone considering this topic publicly to think whether it is shameful for Russia to meet Western ultimatum demands halfway,’ he said.
And he made clear that ‘if we cannot do it [through diplomacy], then open questions will emerge: what are further steps and what should we do?
‘We are against escalation, we are against conflicts, we do not draw lines in the sand, just the logic itself leads us to say that we are not ready to make peace with the current situation.’

He warned: ‘We can no longer postpone, let’s deal with this serious issue … here and now.’
He insisted: ‘We must put an end to the expansion of NATO, NATO infrastructure, NATO capabilities further east.
‘We must exclude Ukraine from joining NATO.’
His words amplified Putin’s insistence on Russian TV that ‘I want everyone to realise, both in our country and abroad, I want our partners to understand one thing…
‘It’s not that we don’t want anyone to cross a certain line.
‘It’s that we have nowhere to retreat now.
‘They have pressed us against such a line… we have nowhere to go…
‘Like I said, they will deliver missile systems to Ukraine, four to five minutes flying time to Moscow.
‘Well, where shall we move now?
‘It’s just that they’ve brought us to the state where we must tell them: ‘Stop!’ That’s what it is’.’

I have always been on the fence with Putin, but my heart has backed him.
When these weak negotiations have taken place and the tissue paper treaties are signed, if this happens, okay. If Putin doesn’t get what he demands, at the very basics for Russian security, then Putin MUST turn off the gas to the EU and by 3rd party exports, the UK as well.
This will cause a calamitous rise in gas and energy prices, by a factor 6 to 10 fold. These price rises will not only clobber the EU & UK, they will trash the US economy.
Putin must break the US hold on EU leaders. He has no choice. Why should Russia keep EU/UK businesses in business, or heat the homes of EU & UK sheeple when NATO is war mongering, because the City crime cartels and Wall Street Mobsters want their mitts on Russian resources?
Putin is close to that point in time when he will be forced to reveal who he works for, or if he is indeed his own man.
Even if Putin is a Roth, those behind Putin are not all Roths. There are powerful Russians, some in the military, who will act if Putin fails to take the right decisions. Xi Jinping is also in a similar precarious position, although in China, the game isn’t so clear cut.
We have Russia powering the EU & UK, yet NATO threatens WW3. This looks as clear cut as it can get, & this is why Putin looks a little distressed in his media rants. Putin looks strong on paper, but he can get couped and the new leader could be a senior General who won’t even talk to the West. Remember, the US embassy in Moscow runs on a very small crew. A new Russian leader from the military would shut it down for good and Russia & Belarus would pull up the draw bridge and close their borders.
After the Soviet collapse, Russia entered into the Western system, and under Putin, the country was rebuilt. For all of Russias best endeavours to plicate the West, Russia has been repeatedly kicked in the teeth for their troubles. The Russian sheeple are very aware how Western sheeple hate on Russia, not to mention the bile that spews form Western fake news, & these feeling are more acute in the military, so there’s a very solid argument that dialogue with the West is insulting to Russia and that Putin has ultimately failed to make his case. Of course, the West has made this situation. Maybe they are banking (pun there) on a coup, followed by another collapse?

Russia might play his card in Syria first.
There will be no war just yet – the UK has not finished it’s transitioning to a War Economy. Power and food rationing is not yet in place. That said, the lunatics in Kiev may kick things off anyway.
Where ever America sets up the Missile Systems and the location of them Russia should do exactly what the Americans are doing. Simply copy, mirror their moves exactly. As long as its all within the Law Whats all the ….. Fuss about.

Russia should & must counter that move to the same distance these missles are.
