1,185 migrants crossed the English Channel into the UK on Thursday – the highest number ever recorded in a single day.
The British government has warned the amount of people departing from France is “unacceptable”.
French authorities intercepted seven attempted crossings yesterday, preventing 99 people from reaching the UK.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “The number of illegal migrants we have seen departing from France today (Thursday) is unacceptable.
