UK Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace described Russia as his country’s “number one adversary threat” in an interview to Sunday Telegraph.
“We have tried de-escalation, we have tried methods but at the moment until Russia changes its attitude, it’s quite hard to see where we’re going to go,” he said.
Wallace also claimed that Russian warships were increasingly active in the vicinity of UK borders.

“We’re regularly visited by nosy Russian ships, and we are regularly visited now by a number of Russian warships,” the UK defense chief said, adding that a a Russian kilo class submarine was detected in the Irish Sea late last year, which the UK had not seen “for a very, very long time.
The UK Navy said last December they had been observing significant presence of Russian warships near the kingdom’s territorial waters. According to Sunday Telegraph, a total of 150 Russian warships have been spotted by the UK Navy since 2013.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy to the United Kingdom has repeatedly noted that UK political and military officials often cite the alleged Russian threat in an attempt to justify their country’s growing military budgets and increased military presence in other regions.

As if the Black Sea were not routinely violated by nosy NATO ships.

I’ve not read this article, but I would like to comment.
Some on here suggest that I’m a commie, funny. I follow Alexander Morcuris on YouTube, he so has other YT colaberations and I would put AM on the right, even though he leans towards Russia. Maybe I am wrong, but that is my opinion.
In the linked YT video below is a fairly good analysis of the Russian economy, its growth, its true position in the global standings, Russia’s military might, its military spending and the fact that given Russias true economic standing, Russia does not spend an exceptional amount of money on its military.

For those of you who won’t watch the video, the Russian economy is substantially larger than recognised. As a consequence of this, Russia has a real defence budget of £180 billion, this is far greater than the UK, Germany and France combined.
The Russian military complex is much more cohesive than any other country bar China. From educating its engineers, to procurement all the way to deployed systems.
By comparison, the UK is a very minor power. The carrier strike group which has or is about to set sail (they’ll need a sail if this bucket breaks down) for the South China Sea… no trade deal with China, but as Boris has said several times: “Screw business”, as the UK embarks on its second imperialist ‘wind’.
The bankrupt dysfunctional UK elite can’t come to terms with the fact that it is a failed state with a 3rd rate military. I jest not, I don’t know the current readyness of UK battle tanks, but the last time I saw this data, we had just 28 battle tanks that were actually combat ready and most of the other tanks were being stripped for parts.
We will never know the cost of this carrier strike groups jaunt across the world, but US data suggests it cost between £9 & £12 million per day. Now I am sure the nations taking part are contributing to some of the costs. For a 4.5 month deployment, this is costing (wasting) between £750 million and £1 trillion pounds that the UK doesn’t have.
This is way the imperialist nutters in the UK deep state keep saying that Russia is a threat.
Putin has recently warned that Russia will defend its Arctic interests. This regular gripe that it is unfair that Russia has all the territory it has and the staggering resources that these lands contain.
The City Crime Cartels want their mitts on Russia. Sadly, this is unlikely to happen.
I note, the US has given up on stopping Nord Stream 2 and dropped corporate sanctions. The UK has also dropped its 2 ship deployment to the Black Sea because they would have been and would still be legitimate targets if there were a war with Ukraine. So the US ‘Coast Guard’ (WTF is a US Coast Guard vessel doing in the Black Sea?) along with a Royal Navy patrol boat will enter the Black Sea. Both the US and UK are saving face. Given that Russia now has a Mediterranean naval port and air base, it is not entirely clear if the US has any real influence in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea… how decline comes quickly.
When the US, against the advice of Putin, withdrew from nuclear arms treaties which resulted in Russia requiring a new raft of imaginative weapons and thses weapons are either in service or will shortly be in service.
The UK after some huge mistakes like Brexit and deploying Covid on the world, is scrambling to get some sort of traction give the UKs deminishes global position. I can imagine what analysts and diplomats are making of this Fareast folly.
I am minded by Sir Norman Wisdom, if you want to fall over, make it funny, oh, the British do it so well.

Last I heard the biggest threat to the Royal Navy was warm waters. In places like the Med or the Indian Ocean the water coolant from the engines passes through pipes to the outside of the hull to lose its heat in the waters the ship is sailing through. They’ve always managed it since the days of steam so it sounds like modern design is yet more poor design. How come they f*** it up so perfectly?
