Watching Soylent Green in 2026 is an odd, uncomfortable experience. While the movie is already supposed to be off-putting, realizing that some of its darkest predictions have become reality in recent years makes the experience rather surreal.
What’s stranger is that the movie takes place in exactly 2022, which is around the time some of these predictions have materialized in real life. And, although we’re far from the film’s catastrophic scenario, we’re clearly being pushed in that direction through careful social engineering.
Of course, this 1973 movie is not a perfect mirror of our day and age. Despite its attempts at looking futuristic, Soylent Green remains quintessentially 1970s, and its star, Charlton Heston, brings that distinct “old school movie star” aura that doesn’t really exist anymore.
Yeah, that doesn’t really look like 2022, more like exactly 1973.
Nevertheless, Soylent Green made dark predictions about our current decade that show impressive foresight and, apparently, insider knowledge of the elite’s true intentions.
