Poland is preparing for the possibility of a full-scale war with Russia while warning that Moscow could stage a major provocation within the next several months, Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said, according to Polsat News on August 17.
Tomczyk said Poland’s government and military are no longer treating a confrontation with Russia as an unthinkable scenario.
Warsaw is actively planning for how the country would operate under the worst possible conditions, even as officials hope those preparations never have to be put into practice.
“We are preparing for war, hoping that it will never begin,” Tomczyk said.
Poland’s preparations extend well beyond its armed forces. According to the deputy minister, Warsaw is also strengthening the country’s energy sector and critical infrastructure against the possibility of future aggression.
The largest military parade in Poland’s history took place in Warsaw for Armed Forces Day, marking the 106th anniversary of the 1920 Battle of Warsaw.

Tomczyk pointed to the SAN counter-drone system being developed under Poland’s East Shield program, describing it as a major element of the country’s preparations and “a huge, state-of-the-art anti-drone system, the most advanced in Europe.”
He said most of the system is being designed specifically for wartime conditions rather than routine peacetime operations.
“Eighty percent of this system’s capabilities are being built for wartime; only a small part of it may be usable in peacetime conditions. We are not building an army for a press conference. We are building it with the understanding that it must be ready to conduct operations in defense of the state under extremely unfavorable conditions, and we must have the tools to do that,” Tomczyk said.

This warning comes amid reports that Russia established at least 10 new or upgraded drone facilities near its borders with Belarus and Ukraine, including launch sites that could eventually place NATO territory, including Poland and its capital Warsaw, within range of Moscow’s most advanced long-range attack drones.
At the same time, Polish officials believe a direct war is not necessarily the most immediate danger.

Tomczyk warned that Russia could carry out a large-scale provocation within months, although he did not specify what form such an operation might take.
He said Warsaw has changed the way it evaluates threats and no longer divides potential scenarios into those considered realistic and unrealistic.
“We no longer divide scenarios into realistic and unrealistic, only into probable and improbable. Today, I would no longer set a deadline. Even some large-scale provocation by the Kremlin could just as well happen within a few months,” Tomczyk said.
The warning comes amid growing concern in NATO about how quickly Russia could rebuild its military capabilities after its war of aggression against Ukraine.
Tomczyk referred to an assessment by NATO’s top commander in Europe, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, that Russia could restore enough military power by 2027 to pose a significantly greater threat to Europe.
Much, Tomczyk said, will depend on what happens in Ukraine.
“If this war ends, that would obviously be very good, but then it is highly likely that Russia will begin rebuilding its potential for the next armed conflict,” he said.

For Warsaw, supporting Ukraine is therefore directly connected to Poland’s own security.
Tomczyk argued that Russia is not currently prepared for a direct confrontation with NATO and would lose such a war, pointing to Ukraine’s ability to hold back Russian forces despite the enormous imbalance in resources.

Use it, put our affairs in order, support Ukraine, and keep Russia as far away from us as possible,” Tomczyk said.
The only reason Russia has to attack a NATO country is to defend itself. NATO is currently attacking Russia through its proxy, Ukraine, so to remove the threat of Russia attacking a NATO country, NATO simply needs to stop attacking Russia.

The Ruling Caste of the NATO countries do not, as this defence minister lyingly asserts, ‘prepare for war with the hope it never begins’ On the contrary, they prepare for war with the fear that peace might never end.
War makes huge profits for the already wealthy, it causes destruction & suffering, fosters a victim status thus allowing atrocities and an utterly binary thinking about the so called history of it. It gulls and cements the sheep together with the hypnotic notion that they have something to lose by being war sceptic- They do, their lives, en masse. Those who rule want you dead ASAP then hopefully not too much is left but a few monuments can be put up in your honour because you did the right thing- died.
The War of 1914 was utterly unnecessary , pointless, destructive European Civil-War. Evidence shows that there were large anti-war demonstrations in Germany, France and Britain and strong war scepticism elsewhere amongst the masses. However, the masses were already mobilized by military training and indoctrination. The so called ‘experts’ the diplomats proved satisfyingly useless, the military class wanted it, the financial class wanted it , the political class saw opportunities and the media class ensured peace was stillborn and the abyss of war opened. All assured their masses that it would be bloody yes but quick, decisive and result only in a minor change or two to the maps. But it was a question of honour, one had to commit suicide out of the terror of death! Glorious security of alliances.
The trick worked a treat. Europe destroyed itself in all ways during the pitiful 51 month atrocity. Generation of men were slaughtered, others ‘survived’ with horrific injuries of every imaginable type ‘walked eye-deep in hell and home, home to old lies and fresh infamy’ Europe’s primacy, economic, military, scientific, cultural was deposed. Empires-all of which were corrupt- vanished. A non Russian Revolution by International Bolsheviks, funded and helped by Imperial Germany had overrun Russia and initiated a nightmare of killing. Amerika became the dominant force in all ways after cynically backing both sides but choosing the one they found to be the most palatable winner the Anglo-French, who were hobbled and exhausted. Chaos ensued and profits piled up accordingly, the Plan worked a treat .
Similar conditions are in play now in the EU/NATO- a horrible corrupt and toxic order rather like its predecessor the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Riddled with arrogance, delusions of grandeur, provocative behaviour and utter contempt for its subject peoples. The big difference is it is not mass conscripted armies that will be slaughtered, induced to fight for National Honour, Right, Dignity, or whatever cliché the media concocts. Most Europeans are at least apathetic about war and still a decent section opposed to it. Matters not, they will be killed by the machinery of war-collateral damage like the spectre of Gaza the template for the future unless the political caste is collapsed or deposed.
The War Hawks and War Whores running the EU demand it, they fawn over Amerika whoever happens to be the President, whatever their policy. Like Austria-Hungary saw Impial Germany, they see the USA as their ‘backer’. These leaders know that their actual survival hinges on starting a war with Russia. Their economies are destitute, energy policies suicidal, autonomy non existent, popular credibility barely visible. Win a war with Russia and ‘we’ can break it up and gain access to badly needed energy and raw materials- The same window that has enticed every European adventurer since Medieval times, but they never learn from the result. No mater, the mass dies in droves and finances burgeon .
