Amelia Earhart vanished over the Pacific in 1937 and America never got an answer.
Researchers just admitted a photograph taken one year later has been hiding in plain sight.
What that photograph shows could finally tell us what really happened to her plane.
A 1938 Survey Photo Sat Ignored For Nearly 90 Years
Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937, attempting to fly around the world at the equator.
She never made it.
For 89 years her disappearance sat treated as an unsolvable riddle, picked over by TIGHAR researchers and amateur historians while the bigger institutions moved on.
Now researchers say part of the answer was sitting in an old photo archive the entire time.
In 1938, a New Zealand survey team scouting Nikumaroro as a possible coconut plantation site snapped an aerial photograph of the island’s lagoon.
Buried in that photo is an object jutting out of the water that researchers now call the Taraia Object.
Footage and imagery from 1938 all the way through 2024 show that same object sitting in roughly the same spot, buried and occasionally re-exposed by the tide.
Richard Pettigrew, who runs the Archaeological Legacy Institute, believes the Taraia Object matches the shape and dimensions of Earhart’s Lockheed Electra 10-E.
“The evidence supporting the Nikumaroro Hypothesis remains compelling,” he said.
Nobody put the photo and the theory together for decades.
In just a month’s time, one of the greatest modern mysteries could finally be solved – the disappearance of Amelia Earhart.

Purdue Researchers Are Going To Go Check For Themselves
Purdue University, the school that helped fund Earhart’s final flight and once employed her as a career counselor, is bankrolling a 16-person expedition to settle this for good.
The team leaves Purdue’s own Amelia Earhart Terminal on October 3.
They assemble in Tarawa, Kiribati on October 6.
Then they sail 830 nautical miles to Nikumaroro to put divers, archaeologists, and cameras directly on top of the Taraia Object.
This is not the first time someone has tried.
Researchers pulled a woman’s shoe, a broken compact case, a freckle cream jar, and a medicine vial off that island years ago.
A 2018 forensic bone analysis found remains on Nikumaroro that a University of Tennessee researcher said matched a woman of Earhart’s build better than any other known individual.
Radio bearings logged by the Navy, the Coast Guard, and Pan American Airways in the days after Earhart vanished pointed toward that same stretch of ocean.
Skeptics laughed it off as a coconut tree.
Pettigrew is not laughing.
“We could be wrong, but I think the evidence is very, very strong that this is, in fact, what it is,” he said.

Why This One Feels Different
Every generation gets one Earhart expedition that promises to finally solve it.
Most come back with nothing but sunburn and a shrug.
This one has something the others didn’t: an actual photograph from a year after Earhart vanished, showing an object sitting in the same patch of lagoon that radio bearings pointed to at the time, that satellite imagery has now confirmed is still sitting there decades later.
That is not a coincidence stacked on a hunch.
That is three separate pieces of evidence, gathered generations apart by people who never worked together, all landing on the same spot in the same lagoon.
It took a private university and a nonprofit archaeology institute, not a government agency, to finally put the pieces together and go look.
That is the same story America keeps living out again and again: the people willing to actually go check are the ones who find the answers, not the people with the biggest budgets
If Purdue’s team pulls a tail number or an engine block out of that lagoon in October, the Earhart mystery is over, and it will have been solved by a bunch of divers who refused to accept “unsolvable” as a final answer.

This is like people who put their lives at risk climbing mountains or engaging in other dangerous “sports”. Where is the sport in dying??
Amelia Earhart, a very pretty woman by all accounts, would have been far better off staying at home, getting married and having a family – the most important thing any woman can do. As if flying around makes any difference.
Earhart was never anywhere near there. She took off, circled round, and landed back in America. She lived the rest of her life as her “sister”, who just happened to look exactly like her. All these creeps are the usual poo, just trying to make sheckels from BS. Every single crashed plane (or anything else) anywhere can be turned into the “Earhart plane”, just like every ship can be turned into the “Titanic”.
I only recently watched a video which gave the most comprehensive reason for the flight’s likely failure. A radio operator was due to make the trip, but after the first attempted take-off the plane was too heavy with its fuel load and it collapsed onto a belly landing and was fortunate not to explode. After repairs the radio operator refused to fly for fear of dying in a fireball.
Amelia and Noonan weren’t familiar with their radio and unlike the radio operator they didn’t know Morse Code. Morse is transmitted on a different higher frequency and carries much further, even in bad weather, and the signal should have reached the ships waiting along her route to triangulate her position. They could only use the radio to speak on, which used a much lower frequency and in inclement weather the signal doesn’t travel far and fades in and out, and she wasn’t close enough to anybody listening to be told of her actual position. Ham radio operators heard parts of her messages and said they picked up some panic in her voice, while some ships tried but were unsuccessful in replying by voice on the same frequency they were hearing her on.
This is the 26min video which explains the problems with Amelia and Noonan’s lack of skills in using the radio properly. It’s presented by a young woman who I think is a qualified engineer.

Well, that’s interesting. Rixon seems to have set up a script to change dollar signs into Ss. Let’s try it and see (not that he can’t fiddle with all of this or even remove it, but not before I see it).
This should be a dollar sign: $.
This should be “microsoft” with a dollar sign: micro$oft.
This should be “shit” with a dollar sign: $hit.
This should be “sheckels” with two dollar signs: $heckel$.
It was the last one that was changed to remove the dollar signs…
And that time it wasn’t. I can’t imagine rixon is gonna say why. Is he using “AI” to edit the comments, because that’s the kind of trick “it” plays…
And no, as I continue talking to myself, I didn’t “make a mistake”. The dollar signs are right there in the editor I copied it from and I saw them in the form box in the site before pressing “submit”.
Bringing back this old fake. Surprised they are not using AI to solve the “mystery”.
Total nonsense. We know the woman on that plane was shot by the Japanese on Saipan, and the Office of Naval Was intelligence destroyed her plane. Witnesses. Lots. Code breaking assignment. Still secret because of Pearl Harbor. Amelia herself lived on under the name of a sister, Muriel.
Aliens
Amelia Earhart- the lost heroine of the defunct ‘women’s movement’.
She was captured and executed by the Japanese for being a spy, which she was. Island eyewitnesses recounted her capture and that was subsequently covered up.
