Water levels on the Euphrates River are dropping fast and have reached historically low levels. This worrying drought has sparked fears that a biblical end-times prophecy could be in the process of being fulfilled.
According to the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), water levels in the Euphrates have now dropped to one of the lowest points ever recorded.
As the river continues to dry up, a debate has emerged online as some are questioning whether this signals the end of times, as prophesied in Revelation, or is simply further evidence of so-called “climate change.”
While I am not averse to the concept of climate change, I do not believe the changing climate is caused by human activity, at least not in any substantial way. The climate has always been in a state of flux since man has been recording it and long before any emissions of greenhouse gases were part of the equation.

The shrinking Euphrates – Western Asia’s longest river, which flows through Turkey, Syria and Iraq – cuts through one of the Bible‘s most important regions, the Fertile Crescent. The waterway plays a crucial role in the Book of Revelation – and a prophecy linked to its role has generated significant anxiety online, as it predicts the end times and Christ’s Second Coming.
Revelation 16:12 reads: “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.” Many believe this serves as a warning that once the Euphrates runs dry, a massive army from the East will advance across the riverbed towards the Battle of Armageddon. This verse represents the second Biblical prophecy regarding the Euphrates drying up, with the first found in Jeremiah 50:38, where God proclaimed: “A drought on her waters! They will dry up. For it is a land of idols, idols that will go mad with terror.”
What is the Biblical ‘second prophecy’ The second prophecy in Revelation, part of the seven bowl judgements symbolising the end of the seven-year tribulation, is so devastating that “no human being would be saved.” The dwindling state of the river has left end-times believers increasingly unsettled, with many convinced this ancient prophecy is unfolding before our eyes, reports the Express.
A 2013 NASA report revealed that both the Tigris and Euphrates river basins – the waters of Babylon – lost a staggering 117 million acre feet (34 cubic miles) of freshwater between 2003 and 2009. This volume of water loss is roughly on par with that of the Dead Sea, with the lion’s share (60%) due to groundwater being extracted from underground reservoirs.
In bygone times, these two formidable rivers allowed farming communities to flourish, but today they are gradually drying up amid an escalating crisis. For those who steadfastly believe in Biblical end-times prophecy, such a development could see the prophecy come to pass within the next few decades.
Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources has warned that without immediate action, the Euphrates River could completely dry up by 2040, with falling water levels further exacerbated by droughts driven by climate change.
What risks does the Euphrates present to humans?
Declining water levels and worsening water quality are also sparking a slew of additional issues, including famine and disease.

Earth is entering a Grand Solar Minimum mini ice age. The suns output is dropping, specifically in the UV range. This is causing the earths heat distribution system like the AMOC and the Jet Stream to lose energy. All this means less precipitation and less energy to move this precipitation around the planet. My Grandfather was born in Egypt on the Euphrates troop ship in c.1872. He was named Thomas Euphrates Flynn. His mother was Johanna Flynn, aged 30, of Irish descent. In January 1872, Johanna married Thomas’s Father, Peter Fletcher, aged 35, in a Roman Catholic chapel in Dungarvan, in the county of Waterford, the Republic of Ireland. Peter was a private soldier in the 51st regiment on the Euphrates troop ship. My grandfather’s surname was then changed, for some reason (!?), and he became known as Thomas Euphrates Fletcher. My Grandfather, Thomas, died in 1944, aged 72!😘
End times coming? Maybe, but only God knows. But considering the so-called November Noahide Congress meeting in Jerusalem–Noahide Law number one says “idolatry” (belief on Christ) will decapitate Christians, and aren’t Christians the number one victims in the great tribulation?–the drying up of the Euphrates could indicate that the end times are coming…”rapture” or not!

Wake up Mr. Hohmann. You sound like one more siloed American journalist either used by the US deep state as controlled opposition, or one who is afraid to connect the dots.
The Iranians have been suffering from the same drought problems as immediately to their west in the “Fertile Crescent”. However, about tow months ago, the Iranians announced that after knocking out many of the US electromagnetic transmitting stations around their nations, the rains have returned. The droughts have ended. They say the US has been ignoring all international conventions and agreements not s screw with the weather of other nations, have have been for decades causing huge droughts in their land. That is what they have been doing for decades to their nation, which the US, the UK, and Israel put under interdiction and crippling sanctions, after they nationalized their oil and gas reserves.
Most Americans, by the way, buy into all of the propaganda about Iran simply because with their military power and technologies they think they own the world, which is why they are a perfect fit with the Jews running US finances, the media, their government and their military. They deserve each other, but the rest of the world no longer deserves them.

Recently, we note that the Israelis have some agreement with the Iranians in which if they stop “helping” the Americans by attacking Iran , the Iranians will stop hitting Israel with their missiles. They want Iran to lay off the missile attacks against poor little Israel, while their Zionist cronies in control of Washington continue to try to destroy Iran, mainly to enable the continued Israeli ethnic-cleansing operations all the way to the Euphrates.
