Labour has urged British farmers to stop raising cattle and grow lentils instead as part of a Net Zero push. GB News has more.
The Government published its highly-anticipated ‘Farming Roadmap’ on Wednesday, outlining its long-term vision for Britain’s agriculture sector.
The 71-page document outlined the Government’s intention to help British farmers wind down high-emission farming – including cattle – and move towards “growing oilseeds and pulses” for planet-based products.
“Farmers will play a critical role in delivering this transition by adopting practices that reduce emissions while sustaining productive, commercially viable businesses,” the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) wrote.
The roadmap is widely regarded as a bid from Labour to get back in rural Britain’s good books amid continued fury over Rachel Reeves’s family farm tax.
However, cattle farmers have hit out at the plans, insisting that land used to raise their animals would not be suitable for growing plant-based items, such as lentils.
Henry Graham, a Berkshire-based farmer who owns a mob of 400 cattle, told the Telegraph: “The idea of somebody ploughing up pasture to grow lentils is ludicrous.”
He insisted that chemicals used on lentils would be unable to be sprayed near water courses where cattle graze because it would simply be too wet.
According to figures from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, the number of Britons adopting a plant-based diet has started to level off.

Lentils rather than cattle, huh? The criminally corrupt and compromised political class scum, taking marching orders from wickedly deranged kikes, are basically telling you to eat shit. The area in which I live is loaded with family-run cattle ranches, and if you told the rancher he needs to grow lentils instead of raise grass-fed cattle he’d laugh in your face then punch you in the mouth if you pressed the issue…and his neighbors would be right behind him.
Anyone and everyone in the government regime pushing “net zero” bullocks should be chased through the streets, beaten to pulps, and force-fed a bucket full of lentils mixed with dog shit….because they want YOU to eat sit and die.

The same insanity was seen during WW2, when the UK government issued ludicrous edicts to farmers over what should be grown and where.
this gov should be charged with treachery. net zero is a total con as is climate change for profit – period.
People should eat what they want or what their metabolism demands.
Humans have a dental set that is neither that of a meat-eater nor that of a veggie eater, but rather something in-between and that suggests they can function with or perhaps even need varied nutrition.
Different cultures have different meat/vegetable ratios in their diet.
Personally I prefer a good Avocado with some salt on it than the choiciest steak.
Lentils and other pulses cause wind in the human gut. As cattle will now be restricted as a food source to our overlords/rulers watch out subjects, your lentil farts might cause the same as live red meat farts and that surely will cause your honourable Come On Wealth pollies to act upon to save Great Britstain and the (for some) vegetarian whirled. Treat carefully!
Beans require one kind of soil, cattle another called pasture. Beans’ soil has to have proper moisture and minerals, cattle thrive in drier, less fertile areas.
