Iranian missile strikes on a US base in Bahrain.
Palestine Chronicle – May 2, 2026
Key Developments
- CNN says Iranian attacks damaged at least 16 US military sites across eight Middle Eastern countries.
- Reports indicate several radar, communications, and missile defense systems were destroyed or disabled.
- Pentagon’s publicly stated $25 billion war cost reportedly excludes major reconstruction expenses.
- Sources estimate actual costs may reach $40–50 billion once repairs and replacements are included.
- Iranian strikes reportedly targeted strategically valuable and difficult-to-replace US military infrastructure.
Widespread Damage
A CNN investigation reported that Iranian strikes during the US-Israeli military aggression on Iran damaged at least 16 American military sites across eight countries in the Middle East.
According to the report, the affected facilities represent a majority of US military positions in the region.
CNN cited satellite imagery, damage assessments, and interviews with US and Gulf sources indicating that several installations suffered significant operational damage, with some becoming effectively unusable.
“There has been a spectrum of assessments,” one source familiar with the damage evaluations told CNN. “From a pretty dramatic side, of the whole facility is destroyed and needs to be shut down, to leaders who say these things are worth repairing due to the strategic benefit they give the US.”
Hasan Piker revealed that Iranian strikes caused extensive damage to US military bases and equipment in the Persian Gulf region. The damage is far worse than publicly acknowledged and is expected to cost billions to repair.

Radar and Defense Systems Targeted
The report stated that Iranian strikes focused heavily on advanced radar systems, communications infrastructure, missile defense assets, and aircraft deployed throughout the region.
Among the reported losses were radar systems connected to American THAAD missile batteries in Jordan and radar installations at sites in the United Arab Emirates.
CNN also reported that an American Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft was destroyed during an Iranian strike on a Saudi air base.
“It’s notable they really identified those facilities as the most cost-effective targets to hit,” a congressional aide told CNN. “Our radar systems are our most expensive and our most limited resources in the region.”
Cost Estimates Far Higher than Official Figures
In a separate report, CNN challenged the Pentagon’s public estimate of the war’s financial cost, citing sources who said the true figure is significantly higher once damage to US military infrastructure is included.
Acting Pentagon comptroller Jules Hurst III told lawmakers Wednesday that the war had cost US taxpayers approximately $25 billion so far.
However, CNN reported that the figure does not include the costs of rebuilding damaged military infrastructure or replacing destroyed equipment.
One source familiar with the matter told CNN that “the real cost estimate is closer to $40-50 billion” once reconstruction and replacement costs are included.
A congressional official also told The New York Times that repairs to the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet alone could cost approximately $200 million.

Pentagon still Assessing Damage
During congressional hearings, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declined to clarify whether official cost estimates included infrastructure repair expenses.
Hurst later acknowledged that the Pentagon still lacks final assessments regarding the full extent of damage to overseas installations.
“We don’t have a final number for what the damage is to our installations overseas,” Hurst said during budget briefings.
He added that reconstruction costs are “not reflected” in the Pentagon’s proposed fiscal year 2027 budget request because officials are still evaluating future rebuilding plans.
“Our partners also might contribute a share for that construction,” Hurst stated. “So we don’t have a great estimate for what it would take to reconstitute those facilities.”
War Costs and Regional Fallout
CNN noted that Pentagon officials had previously informed Congress that the war cost roughly $11 billion during its first six days alone.
The Defense Department has also reportedly requested more than $200 billion in additional military funding connected to the conflict.
The war’s economic consequences have extended beyond military spending.
Reports linked instability in the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing blockade of Iranian ports to rising energy prices and inflation concerns inside the United States.
Images circulated in recent days showed gasoline prices exceeding eight dollars per gallon in parts of the US as tensions surrounding Gulf shipping routes persisted.

All of this “america weak” stuff is coming from the same BS’ers that bring you “diversity is our strength” and “black lives matter”, not to mention “deadly pandemics” and “pwoor little jews”. And then you have trump and whoever is actually in charge of the american army. They aren’t “stupid”. They know exactly what they have, what it can do, and, as much as is possible, what the outcome will be. Yet you all believe they’re just dumbasses fucking up.
At the same time, you have every country in europe building armies and talking about “the growing threat from russia”. These things aren’t separate.
You are going to have a world war. The jew has decreed it. You build up armies, you pick up guns, you die. Your “country” becomes another ukraine, ripe for raping by the jew.
Yet you go on sitting there with your finger up your arse calling everyone a “conspiracy theorist”, like the pathetic cuck you are.
Ooh,scary. A trash can fire , looks extensive. This charade is getting embarrassing.
