There exists the unreasonable modern antarctic legend that Byrd and his High-Jump army were chased away by “super Nazis”.
This legend is promoted or pushed by the book author Jan Van Helsing as mentioned by Lewis Jones.

If Antarctica is a wall of ice encircling a flat Earth how come the North Pole star/Polaris is not visible from the alleged southern hemisphere?

You can see Polaris just south of the equator, but as you move farther south of equator it is not visible. South direction means outward from magnetic center on flat earth model. Polaris is directly over magnetic center erroneously called the north pole, and it’s within the firmament which is less than a hundred miles up, not quadrillions of miles away. As you move further away from magnetic center, Polaris appears lower in sky on the horizon, because of distance and angular perspective not because the ball earth is obstructing your view south of the equator

I too was never convinced of a German redoubt in Antarctica following WWII. Notwithstanding my belief that the Americans captured German technological wonders – including early anti-gravity tech.
My main reason for rejecting the supposed aerial German saucer defeat of American planes is the lack of whistleblowing witnesses. I don’t know how they could have kept that quiet. By the same token why have we not seen more saucer v plane dogfights?
The “appeal” of the German Antarctica redoubt idea is another millenialist fantasy. I am neutral as to whether National Socialist Germany was “good” or “evil”. Having said that, for those aligned with the old politics of Germany, the thought of German saucers emerging as avenging angels is a kind of Ragnarök or Armageddon. It carries a wonderful redemptive mythology with it.
I have written at length about this, but the often colourful pictures of German saucers illustrate the so called “Haunebu” models. The development of this mythology is interesting; it does a disservice to the real engineering. Suffice to say, the “blueprint” for the Haunebu was taken from George Adamksi’s fake saucer pictures. MUCH LATER, enterprising hoaxers created “blueprints” of the Haunebu models. There is a wonderful entertaining video supposedly sponsored by the “masons” and accompanied by some aboriginal music that might easily convince the casual viewer. I’m sure many might have seen this. The Haunebu was no more than the top of gas lantern as demonstrated by Joel Carpenter’s research.
The bottom line is that Germany did develop saucers, but not to any great level of sophistication. BUT they were sufficiently developed to appear in American skies by 1947. Once again – as well as my own research – I have to commend Henry Stevens’s “Hitler’s Flying Saucers”. Stevens is one of a few American researchers who taught himself German to chase down the documentation. He remains ignored by TV UFO documentary makers because they prefer the more fantastic claims of “Nazi UFOs” that discredit themselves.
Further, the exaggerated claims of German saucers “going to Mars” creates a smokescreen to further discredit the provenance of German saucer technology. And for what it is worth, I believe saucers only “work” on planet and by their very nature are incapable of space flight because they need something – the earth – to push against.
