China has once again told its citizens in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible, warning that security risks remain despite a fragile ceasefire that has paused strikes.
Chinese authorities had already issued a similar evacuation warning on Feb. 27, just one day before U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran began the current escalation.
China warns citizens to avoid travel to Iran
In a fresh notice released Thursday, Chinese diplomatic missions in Iran stressed that the situation on the ground remains unstable, even though parts of Iranian airspace have reopened to civilian flights. Authorities described the broader regional environment as fragile, with security conditions still shifting and unpredictable.
The advisory, issued by China’s embassy in Tehran along with its consulates, urged nationals to stay alert, steer clear of sensitive locations such as government and military sites, and move to safer areas without delay.
Officials also highlighted what those who remain should do in case of trouble. Citizens still in Iran were encouraged to quickly contact local security forces during emergencies and reach out to Chinese diplomatic missions for assistance.
At the same time, the statement carried a clear warning for those considering travel to Iran. Individuals choosing to enter the country despite the advisory could face serious risks and might not be able to access consular support if conditions worsen, the statement said.
Drone alert in Tehran raises alarm
Iran war currently sits in a fragile pause, with ceasefire breaches, naval tensions, and unresolved negotiations keeping the risk of escalation high.
Ongoing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz by Tehran and a U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports are maintaining pressure in the region, with diplomatic efforts at a standstill.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump extended the two-week ceasefire indefinitely to open room for a second round of talks in Islamabad, capital of key mediator Pakistan. However, as Iran refused to join the meeting, citing excessive U.S. demands and violations that undermine the ceasefire framework, negotiations were left in limbo.
On Thursday, Iranian air defenses were activated in Tehran and several other cities over reported small drone activity, raising concerns of a possible ceasefire breach, though Iranian media later described it as a military test while an Israeli source denied any involvement.

Three hotel migrants guilty of ‘callous’ Brighton beach gang rape

Three asylum seekers have been found guilty of repeatedly raping a woman on Brighton beach in a “cynical, predatory and callous” attack after she became separated from her friends on a night out.
Migrant Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, and Egyptians Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, and Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, attacked the woman in the early hours of Oct 4 last year. The trio behaved like a “predatory pack” after spotting the drunk victim as she staggered along the promenade around 5.45am after a night out.
They were all found guilty of rape by a jury of seven women and five men at Hove Crown Court on Thursday.
The 33-year-old victim had been out with friends at a nightclub and had drunk a large amount of alcohol including Jägerbombs, vodka and coke and Sambuca shots.

After visiting a nearby Burger King to look for her friend she was engaged in conversation by two of the asylum seekers.
Four minutes later, CCTV cameras captured the drunk woman being led away by the two men holding her arms along the seafront.
Alshafe was shown supporting the victim with his arm around her shoulder while Ahmadi led the way down a ramp on to the beach.
As she walked down the ramp the woman was again caught on CCTV when she fell to the floor and was hauled to her feet by Alshafe.
The woman was then led behind a beach patrol shack on the beach and, as she drifted in and out of consciousness, Ahmadi and Alshafe raped her at knife point
Less than a minute later the pair were joined by Al-Danasurt who filmed her on his phone, laughing and repeatedly calling her: “Dirty b—h, dirty b—h.”
At one point he grabbed hold of her face, forced open her mouth and spat in it while encouraging his friends to do the same.
Hanna Llewellyn-Waters, prosecuting, said the men had been “on the prowl” that night and worked like a “predatory pack”.

She said they did not see her as a human being but as a piece of “meat”.
She said: “She was repeatedly abused for their sexual gratification and entertainment and that entertainment was obtained in part through her degradation.
“They wanted sex and that could be achieved by being with someone who was in no state to resist them.”
She added: “[The complainant’s] state was such that it rendered her extremely vulnerable and indeed, to all intents and purposes, pretty much incapacitated.”
‘They’re evil and they’ve ruined my life’
In evidence, the victim described herself as “paralytic drunk” and said she had absolutely no recollection of how she came to be on Brighton beach.
She remembered drifting in and out of consciousness while being repeatedly “hit and abused” by three men.
The victim described being powerless to stop them and said her body felt so paralysed that she thought she may have had her drink spiked earlier in the night.
She said one of the men had his mobile phone out with a light on and was filming the rape.
Giving evidence, she said: “I asked them to stop and they wouldn’t stop. I was begging them to stop and they wouldn’t.
“Every time I close my eyes I can see them laughing at me. Every night it bothers me. They thought it was funny. It wasn’t consensual at all. They have literally ruined my whole life.
“I didn’t say they could do that. My skin crawls because of what they did to me. They’re evil and they’ve ruined my life.”
“Every day if I close my eyes and it’s not one of them laughing at me it’s the seagulls or the waves I can hear and they’re tormenting me.”
When they finished their attack the three men walked back up the ramp to the promenade and wandered off to catch a bus to return to their hotel.
They later had a barbecue together in the evening, around the same time the woman was waiting to be medically examined.
A video of Al-Danasurt wearing filtered sunglasses in a selfie with a lit barbecue was also shown in court.
Hove Crown Court heard that Ahmadi and Alshafe had come to the UK from France on the same small boat in June last year, while Al-Danasurt arrived the year before.
They were all being housed in the Cisswood House Hotel – a Home Office-approved hotel in Horsham, West Sussex.
All three were failed asylum seekers. Al-Danasurt and Ahmadi had their applications rejected before the incident, while Alshafe’s application was turned down on the weekend of the rape.
The day after the attack, Ahmadi left the hotel and travelled to an address 200 miles away in Crewe, Cheshire.
The move had not been approved by the Home Office and Ahmadi had been marked as “absconding, self-departing” from the accommodation.
All three men were arrested a week after the attack and charged with rape.
Al-Danasurt was found guilty of four counts of rape. Ahmadi and Alshafe were each found guilty of two counts of rape.
A further count of “sharing intimate films” without the complainant’s consent, which Al-Danasurt faced, was withdrawn on Thursday after it was established the offence can only be tried in a magistrates’ court.
