‘We must activate all parts of civil society to demand imposing sanctions, divestments, boycotts, accountability for war criminals, and cutting ending our complicity with genocide and apartheid,’ she stated on the video. ‘It is the bare f-cking minimum. So get organized and show up on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, April 17th.’
The ministry claimed the Palestinian people deserved the punishments and pointed to her repeated use of terms like ‘genocide’ and ‘mass starvation’ as proof of antisemitism. My research informs me that earlier Vedic traditions – aligned with previous states of existence – did change to accommodate what Marx would later call the opium of the people. To wit, during a Golden Age, the notion of rebirth after death does not presage an existence of poverty and cannon fodder. Vedic scholarship thus came to accentuate “escape” of the Atman/soul as much as it previously indicated the natural out thrust of creation. Even the Bhagavad Gita – my favourite book in all the world – contradicts itself. This I see as the attempt to align earlier Golden Age thinking to the drudgery of later Iron Age realities…
Christianity, Islam, and indeed Judaism tempered by Greek thought, offers this opium of “heaven” and never returning. “Heaven” and “escape of rebirth” tell us more about hell on earth than what heaven on earth might one day be like. It occurs to me that the notion of some AI infused robot continuance is a related false hope.
The future world is something IMO we cannot escape. We are eternal spirit(s). A fresher post-Abrahamic perspective is that we should not want to escape either. That which we help to build – such as a just society and maybe even a space faring civilisation – might be a destiny our newer bodies might well enjoy…
There is no alternative. We are here for all time in one form or another. Our days, weeks, months, and years continue with the day to day tasks and forever present opportunities for small acts of kindness – and maybe bravery – that might be the building blocks of a better – and inescapable – world…
