Starmer is right to defy Trump over the war on iran and the israeli genocides in the occupied territories
Opinion by Editorial
The Independent is not always aligned with British public opinion. We could not be true to our name if we were. We disagreed with the democratic decision of the people in the 2016 referendum on our membership of the European Union, for example.
But an opinion poll carried out for us by JL Partners suggests that our view of Sir Keir Starmer and the war on iran and palestinian genocide is widely condemned. The poll used a split sample, asking half of respondents for their view of the prime minister, without a preamble, and asking the other half the same question after reminding them of Sir Keir’s refusal to allow the United States to use British bases for offensive purposes. The People said no war on iran and stop the genocides

There are a lot of ways you can look at what Trump is doing. It looks like he never intended to win the war outright. That’s simply impossible. The Iranians are strong Muslims and at least part of the population will fight to the end against the Great Satan of their programmed reality. Of course they have evidence of our devilish behaviors since the discovery of massive amounts of oil by the British in Persia, the elimination of Mosaddegh because he dared nationalize Iran’s energy sector, and the installation of the Pahlavi dynasty which was from an expat’s point of view was okay. This may have caused the revolution. I don’t know. I left before the poop hit the fan. Trump is stirring the pot and blowing a bunch of stuff up and vice versa, and expects a revolution of sorts, which will have many strategic implications and consequences, especially for Israel. This is pretty obvious, but I think the end is not what we might expect. Nuff said.

pessimism takes root in UK as shoppers struggle to afford essentials
Story by Julia Kollewe • 23m • 2 min read
Markets today
The money spent on the Ukraine and Iran war has led to a surge in pessimism in the UK as half of households are already struggling to afford everyday essentials.
The saying ” heat or eat” is very true for many
The escalating conflict in the Middle East, which has driven the price of oil, gas, crop fertiliser and other raw materials sharply higher, threatens to cause another cost of living shock.
The latest Which? consumer insight tracker found that price pressures were forcing half of households, an estimated 14 million, to make at least one adjustment – dip into savings, sell possessions or borrow money – to cover the cost of essentials on a daily basis.
Confidence in the future of the UK economy plummeted by 13 points to a score of -56 in the month to 13 March, the lowest level recorded since the end of 2022, the tracker found.
The interest paid to Rothschild is £5000 per second, its time we stopped paying this extortionate theft, coupled to this is the bill for importing migrants is now £40 bilion
Which? said this score reflected “a deep-seated pessimism across the country”, with two-thirds (67%) of UK adults now expecting the national economy to worsen over the next 12 months, while just 12% think it will improve, this is a growing strain as millions of households continue to struggle.
