Russia’s energy company Gazprom Neft has announced the discovery of a new oil field on the Yamal Peninsula, with estimated geological reserves of 55 million tons of crude oil – a significant boost to Russia’s Arctic energy ambitions.
The newly identified field is located in the Arctic zone of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area and has been named after prominent geologist Alexei Kontorovich, The Caspian Post reports via Chinese media.
Company CEO Alexander Dyukov emphasized that the Arctic and Eastern Siberia still hold vast untapped potential.
“Both in the Arctic zone and in Eastern Siberia, as well as in many other regions, there are still opportunities to discover new large and super-large hydrocarbon fields,” Dyukov said, adding that Gazprom Neft will continue active geological exploration across all areas of operation.

This is a cracking presentation. It date back to the time when “Peak Oil” was being flouted in order to cut down on oil production. This control of oil is of course related to the petrodollar. It is about money. Unlike gold, oil is far more widely available.
Now of course – for some reason I don’t fully understand – restriction(control) of oil is preferred by the false notion of man-made global warming and the carbon credit business.
The prospect of oil being available in many more places than are currently suspected must be worrying for the dollar hegemony. I do wonder whether the supposed prevalence of it in the Middle East – next to a “homeland for the Jews” – is a pretext to occupy some of those these central squares on the geopolitical chessboard. “Oil” and “Homeland for the Jews” are thus secondary reasons for these important squares.
I mention in passing that “nuclear accidents” in the USA(Three Mile Island) and the Soviet Union (Ukraine – Chernobyl) seem likely to be rather contrived in order to remover the far cheaper – and thus uncontrollable – form of energy from wider use…
Oil because of its general utility proxies for and has indeed, become money…
