International law is absolutely clear. If the US attacks Iran, it would be a war of aggression and the “supreme international crime”.
The job of even supposedly liberal media like the Guardian is to persuade you this is not what is at stake. To disbelieve your lying eyes.
Look at this astonishingly dishonest headline and subhead from today’s paper:
“Threat of US-Iran war escalates” intentionally obscures the truth: that it is the US doing the “escalating” – and that its escalating is entirely illegal.
“Trump warns time running out for deal” makes it sound as though Trump has some kind of authority to make this “warning”. Hey, Guardian, maybe he’s doing it on behalf of his Board of Peace.
The truth is he has no such authority. That resides with the United Nations. What Trump is doing is not a warning; it’s a threat – an utterly illegal threat of aggression.
In any case, Iran has been trying to drag the US back to the negotiating table ever since Trump unilaterally tore up their original deal eight years ago. Time is only “running out” because the US has decided it now needs a pretext to launch an illegal war of aggression. Why is the Guardian not making that clear in its headlines?
Instead, it has turned reality on its head. Trump, according to the Guardian, is the one supposedly trying to secure a deal – that’s the very same Trump who tore up the original deal, has refused to return to negotiations and instead bombed Iran last summer – in another illegal act of aggression.
“US president says armada heading towards Iran is ‘prepared to fulfil its missions with violence if necessary’”. That is just the Guardian’s way of obscuring the fact that Trump is preparing to break international law by waging a war of aggression, the “supreme crime”.
The Guardian’s headline and subhead both present an act by the US of supreme illegality as though it is some kind law enforcement measure. This isn’t journalism. It is cheerleading for an illegal war in which Iranian civilians will inevitably pay the heaviest price.
We have to stop thinking that any corporate media represents the interests of humanity. They promote the interests of the billionaire class and their hangers-on, who make huge profits from a war machine that needs constant excuses to kill.
Corporate media doesn’t hold these billionaires to account. Its sole function is to serve as their public relations arm.

It’s reported by a commenter elsewhere Andrew Bridgen is alleging some kind of £3billion fraud involving Mandelson and Starmer over the Chagos Island deal. I don’t know how true that is.

one hundred and eighty pounds is a lot of money, and for most of my old audience at BBC
it will be a hell of a lot of dough to find.
And it’s these people whom I feel sorry for the most. Hosting a three-hour phone-in show every weekday morning, I heard first hand how skint some were, the governments bill for migrant imports is now £40 billion
Working-class listeners scraping a living, calling me up to vent frustrations around everyday issues such as bin collections crime and potholes.
Typical fodder for local radio phone-ins. Then came the Brexit referendum, which shifted things. These same working-class listeners, who were typically older and once welcomed with open arms to come on air, were now sneered at because they were “Brexity”.
These are the people I feel sorry for when I hear the licence fee is going up to £180.
There is a method behind this discriminatory madness, however. The BBC’s future is dependent on it connecting with a younger audience because they’re the next generation of licence fee payers.
BBC local radio for Birmingham now attracts just one in every hundred radio listeners in the city. It used to be around one in 12.

The connection with its once massive working-class audience is broken. The pensioners soon figured out they were no longer wanted. They’ve tuned in elsewhere
Go woke, go broke has never been truer than for BBC Local Radio. When I left, the BBC had been seemingly gripped by something new. It appeared to have an obsession with race after the london race riots
If you wonder why BBC output doesn’t resonate with you anymore, now you know why. The BBC doesn’t care about you.

Police search Mandelson’s homes in Epstein probe

The Metropolitan Police said officers from its central specialist crime team carried out two warrants in Camden, north London, and Wiltshire in connection with an ongoing investigation into misconduct in public office offences.
The force said the alleged offences involved a 72-year-old man and confirmed that he had not yet been arrested.
It comes after emails released last week by the US Department of Justice suggested that Lord Mandelson leaked confidential government documents to the US financier and convicted sex offender.
Emails from 2009 appear to show Lord Mandelson pass on an assessment by Gordon Brown’s adviser of potential policy measures, including an
“asset sales plan over gold reserves”.
He also appeared by email to discuss a tax on bankers’ bonuses and confirm an imminent bailout package for the euro the day before it was announced in 2010, some pornography was found on his personal PC
These revelations triggered a police investigation and piled pressure on Sir Keir Starmer to release all vetting documents related to the peer’s appointment as the UK’s ambassador to the US.
On Friday it was revealed that senior government figures will be forced to hand over their messages with Lord Mandelson ahead of the release of vetting files, which the independent Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) said would be published “very shortly”.
