My father was a jeweller/matchmaker who owned his own business in Toronto. Part repairs, part retail. Numerous wholesaler’s of his were Jewish, go figure. I remember one in particular, a draft-dodger from New York City. A real hipster, and a very nice gentleman. I can still see him showing up at my father’s business in late December circa 1980 and placing a gift upon the counter while saying with that New Yawk accent, “Mr. and Mrs. S…Merry Christmas!”
Even if it was mere PR, who the phuck cares? I do, because it was more than just that. God bless them all. R.I.P.
