Instead of successfully dealing with the major challenges facing our country, this government is obsessed with tinkering in many areas of our lives in a way that sees it exerting even greater control over how we live
But it comes as no great surprise as leftist-statism is in the DNA of the Labour Party. Historical examples include Tony Blair introducing the smoking ban in public places and workplaces in 2007. Instead of allowing business owners to decide what might work best for them, the state decreed that nobody could smoke in the workplace and that pubs and restaurants must also become smoke free. And let us not forget, it was also the Blair government that was desperate to introduce compulsory ID cards to the UK.

These measures are usually sold to the public under the banner of improving public health or safety which is the usual tactic deployed to shut down criticism or dissent.
The government of the day should not be wasting its time or ours on such measures while our country continues to unravel. Our car crash of a nation sees the authorities unable to tackle illegal migration effectively, an economy that is stagnant, unemployment increasing and a hospitality sector on its knees, among other challenges.
These are the issues that voters expect the government to get a grip on, not the stuff that we are perfectly capable of making informed decisions about when it comes to our health and lifestyle.
