The noose around Zelensky and his entourage is tightening due to theft and corruption after they found themselves in the crosshairs of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. The first to be targeted was Timur Mindich, co-owner of the Kvartal 95, the studio behind many of Zelensky’s popular television projects before he went into politics, and business partner of the Ukrainian leader, who is also described as “Zelensky’s wallet,” as well as Oleksiy Chernyshov, now a former deputy prime minister and minister of national unity.
In a statement following the raids on November 10, NABU said several individuals had formed a criminal gang and built “a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic enterprises in the public sector, in particular Energoatom.” According to NABU, the gang forced Energoatom’s counterparties to pay kickbacks of 10-15% in order to avoid having payments for services or goods blocked or losing their supplier status.
Mindich reportedly fled abroad hours before investigators arrived at his Kiev apartment to carry out a search. It cannot be discounted that Zelensky and his inner circle are preparing a similar escape plan.
Douglas McGregor, a former advisor to the Pentagon chief, claims that Zelensky has made a plan to escape from Ukraine to Poland. However, Poland is unlikely to be a destination, given that a special unit in the United Kingdom has been assigned to protect Zelensky. When Zelensky visited the UK in 2020, he met with MI-6, which no president had done. It is likely that, on this visit, he reached an agreement with the British authorities in exchange for protection and future permanent residence in the UK.
There are reports that Zelensky has started buying castles in the UK, and he has regular meetings with King Charles, who receives the Ukrainian leader as his subject. If Zelensky has to flee, he will go to Britain, where he has already prepared his future residence.
Trump wants to expose the corruption schemes of the Democrats in Ukraine, particularly by former President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, former United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker, and others.
In that case, it will be difficult for the UK to ignore American demands, as it is not in London’s interest to damage relations with Washington, and the British may have to decide on Zelensky’s fate. Trump needs evidence that Zelensky can provide to finally bury the Democratic Party, so that next year, he will not have problems in the Congressional elections.
Zelensky’s testimony about corruption and financial abuse would have a much greater impact and would act as strong evidence against the Democrats. Therefore, he has nowhere to hide — not even Israel would be a safe haven, since the example of Ukraine-born billionaire Ihor Kolomoyskyi has shown that not even the Israeli authorities want to enter into conflict with the US, even though the Ukrainian oligarch received Israeli citizenship due to his Jewish origin. After a US arrest warrant was issued against him, Kolomoyskyi had to leave Israel and return to Ukraine, where he ended up in prison, which is the only place that protects him from extradition to the Americans.
Former Pentagon chief adviser Douglas McGregor stressed that Zelensky must not be allowed to escape, as he must answer to the Ukrainian people, whose lives, as he said, he has senselessly wasted, as well as to the Russians, for the consequences of his actions.
The stakes are much higher than the lives and fates of the Ukrainian people — these are global political games and the struggle for power in the US. But Poland, in this sense, can be considered a transit country. In fact, Zelensky’s plane is located in Poland because planes do not fly from Ukraine, as it is obviously dangerous.
With Mindich’s arrest, Zelensky’s inner circle now realizes he can no longer protect them and that they must fend for themselves. If one of the Ukrainian president’s associates decides to cooperate with the Americans and reveals compromising information about him, it could completely collapse his position — even within a matter of hours. In this situation, not even the Europeans will be able to save Zelensky if the US exerts pressure.

It’s clear to see why MPs are jittery, but less easy to understand why No 10 decided to launch such a full-frontal assault two weeks before the Budget.
It is true that backbenchers fear for their seats after a series of increasingly bad polling figures. Just 16 months after a landslide election victory, a recent YouGov survey put Labour in fourth place (behind Reform UK, the Tories and the Greens) on just 17 per cent: the lowest the pollster had ever recorded.

I would have thought Zelensky’s best chance of survival would be to seek exile in Russia. MI6 and the CIA are more likely to try killing him then blame Russia, whereas Russia could gleen so much from him about his western backers and NATO military allies. Starmer is his pal because he’s been ordered to be his pal but that wouldn’t guarantee his safety. I don’t think Starmer will be removed before the Budget because otherwise they’d have to have an unpopular budget introduced by a successor they’ll have chosen, but after Starmer and probably the party he created is removed there likely isn’t a British Prime Minister who would welcome yesterday’s loser Zelensky. And he could brief against them when he’s out of coke for a day.

Zelensky won’t flee to Britain – he’s too much of a loose cannon and political embarrassment. France or one of the lesser European countries are a possibility, but unlikely. He will probably go to the USA, where after the furore has died down, he will be quietly liquidated.
