Israel’s far-right minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has made yet another shocking remark, saying that the regime’s forces should shoot “children and donkeys” near a ceasefire demarcation zone known as the “yellow line.”
During a meeting of Israel’s “security cabinet”, the military’s deputy chief of staff reportedly said that Israeli forces were instructed to open fire on Palestinians who crossed the line, but to arrest children if they were found near it.
In response, Ben-Gvir said Israel “must stop being merciful” and start shooting “a child riding a donkey” near the so-called yellow line. Knesset member Dudi Amsalem then asked, “Who should we shoot first — the child or the donkey?”
Minister of military affairs Israel Katz reportedly closed the discussion by saying, “Anyone who approaches the fence should know they may be harmed.”
The so-called “yellow line,” established under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan, runs from northern Gaza to the outskirts of Rafah in the south.
According to Gaza officials, Israeli forces directly open fire on any Palestinian crossing or even approaching the line, without prior warning. The boundary is not visibly marked, leaving civilians at constant risk of being shot for unknowingly entering an undefined restricted area.
The regime’s forces have reportedly installed yellow concrete markers every 200 meters to delineate areas remaining under the military’s control during the first phase of the ceasefire.
But officials in Gaza say the vast debris left by months of Israeli bombardment has made it nearly impossible for residents to navigate safely or avoid the newly marked boundary.
Two weeks into Trump’s ceasefire, which took effect on October 10, an average of more than 20 Palestinians are still being killed each day—many near the yellow line, according to Gaza health officials.
Despite the truce deal, Israeli forces continue to occupy more than half of the Gaza Strip, including areas in the north and center, as well as parts of Rafah and the Salah al-Din corridor.
The so-called yellow line, which cuts Gaza roughly in half, is increasingly taking on a more permanent form and is being referred to in Israeli media as a “new border.”
Jeremy Konyndyk, president of Refugees International and a former US aid official, described the line as “a de facto creeping annexation of Gaza.”
Last week, the Gaza Government Media Office said that Israeli forces started to clear residents from all eastern neighborhoods, warning that the measure is “creating a new and dangerous reality on the ground.”
Under Trump’s plan, Israel’s withdrawal to the yellow line would leave the regime occupying 53 percent of the territory.
A BBC satellite analysis of the new yellow markers indicated they were placed several hundred meters beyond the proposed boundary, representing a further substantial land grab.

Migrant hotel blunders cost taxpayer billions

Billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money were squandered on asylum hotels because of a “failed, chaotic and expensive” system imposed by the Home Office, a committee of MPs has found.
Ministers and officials “neglected” day-to-day management of their asylum accommodation providers even as the cost of the 10-year contracts tripled from £4.5bn to £15.3bn, according to the all-party home affairs committee, of people who should not have even been in the country.
As a result contractors made “excessive” profits at taxpayers’ expense without the Home Office imposing effective penalty clauses or clawbacks.
The Government is also facing mounting scrutiny over its handling of migrants after an Ethiopian who sexually assaulted a teenage girl was mistakenly released and an active pedophile allowed to stay, as back home he would have been imprisoned

Just as the Houthi attacks on Israeli and US ships damaged the Israeli economy and shut down the port of Eilat, the Panama Canal is a vulnerable spot for US shipping if the US strikes Venezuela. And unlike long-range missile strikes by missiles in the Red Sea, ships sailing the Panama Canal will probably be easier to target by resistance fighters from allover South and Central America. And it may be desirable to block the canal with a big enough ship to damage the US and western world economies.
The US will still have ports on both coasts but a vessel from the Pacific with goods for the US east coast would either have to sail around the Cape Horn, several thousand extra miles, or land it in on the US west coast and transport it by road and raileast. Expensive! Similar problem for the Atlantic vessels.

RNLI boatman sacked after calling Sadiq Khan a ‘terrorist’

Glen Monroe, 62, was dismissed when his lifeboat colleagues complained that he repeatedly referred to the Mayor of London as a “terrorist”.
Mr Monroe first joined the RNLI in 1986 as a volunteer crew member before becoming a helmsman in 2001, having previously held a clean disciplinary record until the complaints.
Despite his 38 years of service, he was suspended and investigated by the charity in February last year before being sacked without notice in April for gross misconduct.
When he took his case to the London Central Employment Tribunal Centre, it ruled that the RNLI had not clarified Mr Monroe’s breach, allegation and evidence.
Although some of the complaints were upheld against him, the tribunal decided that he was unfairly and wrongfully dismissed by the charity, and he is now in line for compensation.

UN peacekeeping forces attacked by Israeli forces in Lebanon

UN blue helmets in Lebanon have said they downed an “aggressive” Israeli drone that appeared to be targeting them, after which they were attacked by another drone with a grenade.
In a statement on Sunday, the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said that “an Israeli drone” had approached its troops “in an aggressive manner” on Sunday afternoon.
“The peacekeepers applied necessary defensive countermeasures to neutralize the drone,” according to the force.
Later that afternoon, “an Israeli drone came close to a UNIFIL patrol operating near Kfar Kila and dropped a grenade,” the statement continued.
“Moments later, an Israeli tank fired shots towards the peacekeepers. Fortunately, no injury or damage was caused to the UNIFIL peacekeepers and assets.”
