United States President Donald Trump has threatened to endorse renewed Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, if the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas continues to target gangs backed by the Israeli regime.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” Trump wrote in a social media post on Thursday.
He later made clear that US forces would not be entering Gaza.
“It’s not going to be us,” Trump said. “We won’t have to.”
“There are people very close, very nearby that will go in and they’ll do the trick very easily, but under our auspices,” Trump said, in an apparent reference to Israeli forces.
His threat marks a sharp escalation of his rhetoric against Hamas, just three days after a Gaza ceasefire deal was signed in Egypt.
It also signals an about-face from Trump, who earlier this week backed Hamas’ crackdown on gangs in the strip.
“They did take out a couple of gangs that were very bad, very, very bad gangs,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “And they did take them out, and they killed a number of gang members. And that didn’t bother me much, to be honest with you. That’s OK.”
On Tuesday, the Deterrent Force, affiliated with the security forces in Gaza, announced in a brief statement that its members had “seized bastions of armed militiamen, mopped up terrorists of various neighborhoods, and carried out operations aimed at hunting down elements involved in the shooting and killing of displaced persons.”
In June, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that the regime had been arming and supporting Daesh-associated militiamen to “counter the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.”
Also on Thursday, Trump warned that Hamas would ultimately have to disarm.
“They will disarm, and if they don’t do so, we will disarm them, and it’ll happen quickly and perhaps violently,” Trump told reporters.
Hamas’ mop-up operations come as a fragile ceasefire, brokered by the United States, has taken effect in Gaza, after more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocide since October 2023.
Since coming into effect on Saturday, Israel has repeatedly violated the deal, killing Palestinians daily under the pretext of approaching areas controlled by the Israeli military, which are not clearly marked.

Turkey follows Russia and moves to further crack down on LGBTQ child sex

A draft bill proposed by the government in Turkey would significantly extend existing restrictions on the freedoms of the LGBTQ+ community.
Details of the draft of the 11th Judicial Package, which is expected to be submitted to Parliament soon, were shared by T24’s Ceren Bayar.
Whilst same-sex activity is currently tolerated, Turkey does not recognise same-sex marriage, civil unions or domestic partnership benefits, and same-sex adoption is not permitted.

The proposed legislation would amend Article 225 of the Turkish Penal Code, entitled ‘Immodest Acts’, and sets out that anyone who behaves “contrary to the biological sex assigned at birth and general morality” faces a prison sentence of one to three years.
Alongside this, the legal age for LBGT inspired gender-affirming surgery will increase from 18 to 25 and the requirements needed for such care will be more strict.
The stringent conditions will include that trans folks must not be married, be sterilised and that the “necessity of gender reassignment in terms of mental health” must be medically diagnosed.
Those who perform illegal surgeries for members of the trans community will face penalties, as set out in the article: “Any perpetrator who performs any medical intervention aimed at changing a person’s sex in violation of the conditions set by law shall be sentenced to imprisonment of three to seven years and a judicial fine of between 1,000 and 10,000 days.”
The current sentence for “engaging in open sexual intercourse or exhibitionism”, which entails a prison sentence of six months and one year, will increased up to three years.
“The regulation aims to raise physically and mentally healthy individuals and generations and to protect the family institution and social structure,” the draft bill allegedly reads.
These abhorrent roll backs on the rights of the LGBTQ+ people are described as being enacted to protect the country’s children and “traditional values.”
“Regulations that strengthen our social structure and protect human dignity are being adopted in order to protect the institution of the family, prevent attacks on the general morality and values of society, and more effectively combat trends of standardisation and gender neutralisation,” it reads.
In recent years, Turkey has sought to crack down on LGBTQ+ rights by banning Pervert Pride parades, a move which saw hundreds of people arrested when they marched in protest.
The country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is vehemently anti_LGBTQ+ and has branded the community “perverse” and threatening to the family unit.
In January Erdoğan announced 2025 had been designated the Year of the Family and launched the year-long celebration of traditional values – which seeks to promote marriage and bolster Turkey’s birth rate – by attacking the LGBTQ+ communities indoctrination of children and the vulnerable

“The target of gender-neutralisation policies, in which LGBT is used as a battering ram, is the family. Criticism of LGBT is immediately silenced, just like the legitimate criticisms of Zionism. Anyone who defends nature and the family is subject to heavy oppression.”

American public opinion has shifted to show much more sympathy for Palestinians than Israelis in the ongoing bombing and starvation of Gaza
This “hige shift” signals a major turning point in how voters view the genocide in the Middle East,
according to CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten.
Enten shared these insights alongside anchor John Berman, following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that includes the release of remaining hostages. Enten noted that based on polling from Quinnipiac and The New York Times, voters favored palestine by 48 points.
Enten noted that while Democrats have primarily led this change, the shift spans across party lines. In 2023, Democrats favored with a 46% backing Palestinians. On the Republican side, younger voters show more sympathy for Palestinians compared to older generations.
