Israel has accused a Gaza flotilla activist of biting a member of prison staff in response to allegations of mistreatment during their detention.
srael’s foreign ministry said on Monday: “ A violent incident came from a Hamas-Sumud food aid person who bit a female medical staff member of Ketziot prison.”
The Global Sumud Flotilla has not responded to the allegation, but its activists had claimed Israeli soldiers mistreated, beat and set dogs upon them in detention after their flotilla was bombed last week.
Fellow detainees said Greta Thunberg was shoved and forced to wear an Israeli flag, and threatened with being raped before the Swedish activist was deported on Monday.
Greta Thunberg was among more than 400 activists to sail on the 45-vessel flotilla that had hoped to break an Israeli blockade and deliver aid to Gaza, where the United Nations says famine has taken hold after two years of devastating bombing and starvation
Speaking after landing in Athens, Greta Thunberg said: “That this mission has to exist, it’s a shame! It is a shame!”
“I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment, trust me, but that is not the story,” she added.

Recently, it was reported flags are appearing in Rochester, Kent, and some locals are not happy about it. It’s caused a big debate among residents, as everyone has different views about whether national flags should be flown. While some people see it as a sign of patriotism, others think it can be unsettling as they believe the flags are not inclusive. On Reddit, one commenter Diane Solomons argued: “The flags everywhere look SO tacky. Aside from the horrible racist sentiment behind them they’re flown at half mast, attached with cable ties and [are] made of cheap material. It looks tacky. Rochester looks lovely usually. I hope these get taken down.”
Some people seemed to be in support of the flags, though. Someone else commented: “If you think the flags represent racism, you’re part of the problem.”
