Starmer’s proposal for a national ID card system is not what it seems.
Opposition to a UK National Identity has fluctuated over the years, with the cost being a decisive factor. For example, a 2005 BBC survey found 17% were in favour and 83% were against ID cards.
While a 2005 DailyTelegraph/YouGov poll found that 66 percent were opposed to a National ID card if it cost £6 billion with that figure rising to 81 percent opposed if the cost was £10-19 billion.
Clearly, even twenty years ago there was solid opposition to such a scheme.
That’s why Starmer’s announcement looks like a classic problem/reaction/solution routine.
For the uninitiated, that’s when a problem is created, or allowed to happen, which the public demands a solution for. However, the proposed remedy is in the form of measures or legislation that the public had previously deemed unacceptable.
However, so urgent is the need for a solution that voters are ready put aside their previous opposition in order to solve the problem.
Is that what has happened here?

The national mood has indeed changed with the migrant crisis. Was it ‘allowed’ to happen? Under Starmer and his predecessors the government almost encouraged illegal immigration: letting illegal migrants into the country without scrutiny, putting them up in four-star hotels and providing them with financial support, often without question or serious scrutiny.
To anyone coming from a poverty-racked country it must have seemed like an irresistible opportunity. So it’s no wonder that so many illegal migrants flocked to Britain.
That was the plan.
Previous governments and this one have actively created this problem and now that voters are demanding that something be done the government has stepped forward with a solution.
Or so Starmer and the mainstream media would have us believe.
Only it’s not meant to solve the problem of uncontrolled immigration. It’s meant to pave the way for greater and more extensive powers of surveillance, which will start with a compulsory national identity card.
This can then be linked to a national database with health and employment records, and whatever else the government wants to keep tabs on.
This is a recipe for totalitarianism and like all totalitarian regimes it’s founded on lies.
One might even say that Keir Starmer’s plan is based on diabolical logic. Literally.
In the light of Starmer’s announcement I’m going to make a prediction.
I’m not a psychic but more people are waking up to the lies foisted on them by the government and its subservient media. As a result I suggest that Starmer’s proposed ID scheme is going to face mounting opposition and as it does so more people are going to start waking up.
Peaceful or violent, tumultuous change may be on the horizon. Ed.
Keir Starmer expected to announce plans for digital ID cards

All working adults will need digital ID cards under plans to be announced by Keir Starmer in a move that will spark a battle with civil liberties campaigners.
The prime minister will set out the plans on Friday at a conference on how progressive politicians can tackle the problems facing the UK, including addressing voter concerns around immigration.
The proposals for a “Brit card” would require legislation and are already facing opposition from privacy campaigners.
However, No 10 is understood to believe that it is necessary to make sure people have the right to work in the UK to tackle illegal migration, and that the national mood has moved on since Tony Blair’s plans for ID cards were abandoned in the 2000s.
Shabana Mahmood, the new home secretary, is a backer of the plans, having said her “long-term personal political view has always been in favour of ID cards”.
Starmer said this month that digital IDs could “play an important part” in making Britain less attractive to illegal migrants and France has repeatedly claimed that the lack of official cards acts as a “pull factor”.
Ahead of his speech on Friday, Starmer spoke about the government’s goal of “patriotic renewal”, comparing it to “the politics of grievance, of toxic divide, which is what Reform are all about”. He dismissed the Conservative party as “basically dead”.
The Guardian revealed in June that Downing Street was exploring proposals for a digital ID card to crack down on illegal migration, rogue landlords and exploitative work.
The idea came from a Labour Together paper given to the No 10 policy unit proposing a Brit Card, which it claimed could help avoid another Windrush scandal.
The thinktank paper also said it would help reduce vast numbers of visa overstayers, saying half of those whose asylum claims were turned down over the past 14 years were probably still in the UK. It proposed a free, secure digital ID, stored on a person’s smartphone using ministers’ planned gov.uk Wallet app, rebranded as the Brit Card app. That could then be verified by employers, immigration, banks and landlords using a free verifier app.
Under the likely plans, the technology is expected to be built on the government’s existing “One Login” infrastructure, which already allows citizens to access about 50 government services, from applying for a job as a teacher to using a lasting power of attorney.
The report’s author and the thinktank’s director of technology, Kirsty Innes, is now a special adviser to Liz Kendall, the technology secretary. When the paper was published, she said: “A progressive society can only work if we have meaningful borders. BritCard would make it far harder to flout the illegal work and illegal rent rules, and far easier to identify and punish exploitative illegal employers and landlords.”
The plans were welcomed by the Tony Blair Institute, with its director of government innovation, Alexander Iosad, saying: “Make no mistake, if the government announces a universal digital ID to help improve our public services, it would be one of the most important steps taken by this or any government to make British citizens’ everyday lives easier and build trust.”
However, they were opposed by David Davis, the Conservative MP and former cabinet minister, who led the charge against Blair’s ID cards decades ago.
Davis said: “No system is immune to failure, and we have seen time and again governments and tech giants fail to protect people’s personal data. If world-leading companies cannot protect our data, I have little faith that Whitehall would be able to do better.”
The Liberal Democrats said they could not support “a mandatory digital ID where people are forced to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives”.
The Conservatives did not give a position, but its leader, Kemi Badenoch, said: “There are arguments for and against digital ID, but mandating its use would be a very serious step that requires a proper national debate.
“Instead, this is a throwaway conference announcement designed to distract attention from Andy Burnham’s leadership manoeuverings and the crisis in Downing Street over the prime minister’s chief of staff.”
Jim Killock, the executive director of Open Rights Group, highlighted that the digital ID card scheme was not in Labour’s manifesto, arguing that it was “the last thing this government should be embarking on during a cost of living crisis”.
“The digital visa schemes that are already in place for migrants are a stark warning of the harms aused by data errors, systems failures and an indifferent, hostile Home Office. People have been unable to travel, lost job offers and even been made homeless because of existing digital ID schemes,” he said.
“Labour are at risk of creating a digital surveillance infrastructure that will change everyone’s daily lives and establish a pre-crime state where we constantly have to prove who we are as we go about our daily lives.”
David Rennie, a former official at the Home Office’s identity cards programme and now chief trust officer at the startup Orchestrating Identity, said it was “absurd” to suggest a digital identity would stop illegal migration.
“Proposing a headline-grabbing ‘government digital identity for all’ as a way of combating illegal migration shows a lack of understanding or learning from the last 20 years,” he said. “Employers already have to prove a prospective employee’s right-to-work in the UK or receive a £45k fine.”

An over weight jewish woman allegedly called the police after two locals tried to put up a Union Jack flag on her street. A video shared on Facebook shows the angry woman approach the men and push over their ladder.
In the video, she accuses them of being old fashioned and stands under the lamppost to prevent them from putting up the flags. She then called the police and tried to snatch a phone from one of the men who was filming her. The woman grabbed the ladder and tossed it to the ground, causing one of the men to lose his balance and fall.
The men told her they were putting up flags with money raised through a GoFundMe page. After being asked why they were putting up the flags, the men replied: “To celebrate unity and peace in our country”.
However, the racist women told them: “The police are coming, I’m sure you know them well.” She then kept swearing “After a police officer arrived, the man filming explained that the residents in Worcester had donated to the fundraising page for flags to be hung. They then moved on, saying: “We’re gonna go, it ain’t worth the aggro.”
The footage was shared by Matt Houston on Facebook. The post, which has 24,000 likes, 8,000 comments and 1.2 million views, said:

Rupert Lowe’s petition alone is calling for mass deportations has hit 500,000 signatures days after being launched. The petition on the official Parliament website by the Independent MP calls on the Government to establish offshore detention facilities to process and deport the migrants.
It is due to receive a response from the Government after hitting 10,000 names and could be debated by MPs as it has passed the 100,000 threshold. The Great Yarmouth MP said: “Mass deportation is now mainstream political opinion. Every MP should now be asking themselves whose side they are on.
“Law-abiding British citizens who play by the rules, or the unvetted third world conmen who have been allowed to break into our country?
“There has never been such a disconnect between the people and their so-called representatives, the horrific racism by Labour against its own people is treason

A Sudanese migrant accused of beating and raping a British student had fled his home country months before the incident, a court has heard.

Jurors at Bournemouth Crown Court were told that Muhammad drugged her and at his place forced the woman to undress before pinning her down on his bed and raping her despite her pleas to stop.
Afterwards, he is said to have refused to let his victim leave and stopped her from answering calls from concerned friends.

Maybe one driving factor behind it is the government will be able to sell our data, a new tax-raising gig. New data is created all the time with births, jobs lost, new jobs, marriage/divore changing womens’ names, moving an address, acquiring a criminal record, gaining a qualification, passing a driving test, deaths and many other things useful to know to tailor targeted approaches to individuals rather than pay to reach masses with ads and mailshots etc. Data doesn’t stay static forever for any of us so the constant changes must give it a saleable value, perhaps by each year.
All this can happen without our knowledge. The government is losing working class inome tax revenues and will lose much more to automation and AI, but they can create data stream incomes from all of us, even the kids, who may not need an ID card before leaving school but they’ll all be on a parent database.

Why not just make it mandatory that everyone has to apply for a passport/ residence permit. It would bring the cost of a passport down for everyone and it wouldn’t be too discriminatory or disruptive. I’ve nearly always had one during my adult life even though it is not really required most of the time but it comes in handy when I D is required.

Once these countries have been forced to pay eye watering sums to ensure the return of their people from our work camps where we shall be holding them while we await trillion £ gold compensation payments for their release. Half of that money will go on Military defence and a National Paramilitary Militia. The other half will compensate each educated patriot who can show they were loyal to Britain and suffered Govt attack during the years of darkness (ie 1-2% of the population).
