  6.  » ‘Not controversial’: President Trump challenges Florida’s decision to end vaccine mandates

President Donald Trump pushed back against Florida’s move to end school vaccine mandates, saying Friday that certain vaccines should be required.

After signing the Department of War order in the Oval Office, President Trump commented on Florida’s push for “medical freedom” by ending vaccine mandates in the Sunshine State.

“Look, you have some vaccines that are so amazing, the polio vaccine, I happen to think, is amazing,” said President Trump. “A lot of people think that COVID is amazing, you know, there are many people that believe strongly in that, but you have some vaccines that are so incredible, and I think you have to be very careful when you say that some people don’t have to be vaccinated.”

He concluded by emphasizing the effectiveness of vaccines without controversy:

“Look, you have vaccines that work. They’re just pure and simple work,” the President added. “They’re not controversial at all, and I think those vaccines should be used; otherwise, some people are going to catch it, and they endanger other people.”

The President’s statement comes after Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo called the vaccine mandates “wrong” and dripping with “disdain and slavery.”

In Florida, students without exemptions are usually required to be vaccinated against illnesses such as measles, mumps, polio, chicken pox, and hepatitis B.

If the plan becomes official, Florida will become the first state in the U.S. to do away with vaccine requirements for kids to attend schools.
