1. Reason to hate the media no. 5691
On Friday CNN reported that Donald Trump had “revoked” Kamala Harris’ secret service protection under the simple headline:

But the body of the article explains that former Vice-Presidents only get 6 months of SS protection by law and that Biden had extended Harris’ protection for 18 months via Executive Order. Further, it reports that the SS had conducted a threat assessment concluding Harris was in no danger prior to the revocation of her special status.
None of this matters. Nobody is going to assassinate Harris and if they were, the SS would be in on it anyway, they always are.
Rather, this is just an object lesson in how the media sucks. The headline is designed to outrage the 90% of people who will only read the headline. It’s purpose-built to make liberals cry and scream about Trump putting a black woman in danger and how he would never revoke her protection if she were white, and yadda yadda yadda.
It’s a boring non-story turned into manipulative ragebait.
2. “Oi mate, you got a license for that 3D printer?”
The always entertainingly hysterical Centre for the Study of Organized Hate (CSOH) is concerned about 3D printed guns, writing in their new report:
A growing number of far-right extremists are turning to 3D printers to build untraceable firearms, posing a new challenge for governments struggling to keep pace with digital-age weaponry. These advancements are reshaping the development of weapons and altering the nature of conflict and terrorism.
But what do about this new threat?
Well, regulation of course. To quote this report from last month:
…lawmakers should take steps to regulate 3D-printing technology in a manner that makes it impossible to use a 3D printer to print a gun.
“Regulate 3D-printing technology” is the key here. Guns are just an excuse.

Now, I’m always careful of the “it’s bad because it doesn’t work” argument, because it can unintentionally open up the ground to “if it works then its ok”. But we also tend to talk focus on the downsides of dystopian tech working, neglecting the impacts of error and malfunction.

Over the last few days, I’ve had ‘Build this defense weapon (kinda thing, several), pop into my NaziTube feed, and I raise this in respect of 3D printers, which are amazing bits of kit, but there’s a irony here.
One NaziTuber who I kind of follow, she has left NaziTube for Rumble, because NT was harassing her, because she’s danced in her videos, but as a dipper, I’ve not seen her dance. But ask me, she is totally harmless, but she been forced to leave NaziTube, but they actively promote videos on how to make semi automatic ‘defence’ weapons, and I didn’t search this shit!
Of course, they are worried about 3D printers, but this weapon build ‘promoted’ by NaziTube’, it’s tantamount to Demos plotting to turn truthers into terrorists… lol

Facial recognition by AI software that marks someone as a criminal , thus kicking you out of the store is a good thing. The more people get thrown out, or kept out of some store the better. Let the merchants sweat as they lose customers. The store doesnt even need AI , just a bunch of dingbats that mistake you for someone they think fits the description. Ive been hassled at stores many times through out the years, thrown out by humans, followed around, watched. You become aware that you are a target. Never return to that store, shed the habit. Boycott.
Regards the proscription of protest group Palestine Action after being reclassified as a terrorist outfit, the latest news is 114 people have been charged with supporting a banned group. But if over 700 have been arrested, how come over five hundred have not faced the same charge? They can’t play around with law to that extent and still call it law, so maybe those figures show the proscription is beginning to crack, and with it our authoritarian government and the shitstain left behind that once was a respect for the police.
Now they’ve arrested five speaker-organisers in another show of bad faith and abuse of power. Defend Our Juries who organise the protests say they have over 1,000 pledges to turn out on Saturday 6th Sept. to risk arrest by showing support. Something has to give and if it isn’t the people (and lots of oldies turn out for these protests because they know what we once had) then it has to be the police or Starmer’s government which must give. I think the police will crack first–they know they’re silencing protests of a genocide–then the Dear Leader’s government may struggle to survive once the police start dissenting.

Although they’re not the first to do it Sainsburys is trying out facial recognition in two of its stores, one in Bristol and one in London. As usual the excuse is to fight the baddies – shoplifters – but I suspect that just as all stores are known to sell data of their loyalty card customers, now they’ll be able to sell the face to the data; and no doubt full body images so those they sell it to can target their mark more precisely when they can see if you’re tall or short, fat, fit or whatever. I could save a lot of money on my online shopping with Sainsburys loyalty card Nectar, but I don’t want my details sold on to companies over which I have no consumer control. So this constant reassurance about data protection is just all b*ll*cks.
