Kit Knightly – Off-Guardian Aug 23, 2025
An Australian think-tank has proposed a radical solution to the supposed “housing crisis” – tax people for unused bedrooms.
The thinking is simple: There are many people, mostly older couples whose children have left home, living in family-sized homes with one or more bedrooms sitting empty. If the state were to impose a tax on unoccupied bedrooms, whilst abolishing stamp duty, they will incentivise those people to sell their family homes and downsize, thus freeing up homes for young families looking to buy.
But is that really how it would work?
Of course not.
What will happen is that newly incentivized sellers will bump up against hedge funds and private equity firms who are willing to pay 10-20% over market price. I covered this back in my 2021 article What’s REALLY behind the war on home ownership?
The incipient “Great Reset” is a multi-faceted beast. We talk a lot about vaccine passports and lockdowns and the Covid-realated aspects – and we should – but there’s more to it than that.
Remember, they want you to “own nothing and be happy”. And right at the top of the list of things you definitely shouldn’t own, is your own home.
The headlines about this have been steady for the last few years, but it has picked up pace in the wake of the “pandemic” (as has so much else). An agenda hidden on back pages, behind by Covid’s meaningless big red numbers, but perhaps no less sinister.
It has been progressing steadily since then. By December 2022 private equity firms were accounting for almost 30% of home purchases in the united states. BlackRock et al. are projected to own around 40% of American homes by 2030.
It’s no different in other countries around the world. Canada is following the US pattern, whilst private equity already own an estimated 37% of single family homes in Germany.
In the UK, 2024 saw private equity firms invest £1.5billion in single family homes, with Blackstone buying over 4000 of them alone. According to the New York Times, US investment firms are already Madrid’s biggest landlord.
Australia notionally moved to prevent this, imposing a two-year ban on foreign investors purchasing property earlier this year, but that doesn’t apply to Australian private equity firms.
All the while, the press are publishing articles like this one…
Renting vs. buying: Is renting for life really that bad?
Or this one…
10 Reasons Why Renting Could Be Better Than Buying
The agenda is pretty obvious. And if the bedroom tax becomes a reality, we’ll all know why.

Rachel Reeves ‘heading towards another Rothschild IMF bailout’
Story by EMMA TAGGART, Nick Gutteridge
Rachel Reeves’ tax-and-spend gamble is driving Britain towards a 1970s-style debt crisis and bailout from the International Monetary Fund,
leading economists have warned
The cost of importing in milions of migrants has crippled the country, the IMF is Rothschild, we already pay £5000 per second in interest on what we already borrowed from Rothschild
Lets just ship them all back home, and cut our expenditure.
Experts have said the Chancellor’s handling of the economy risks a return to the years of high inflation and borrowing that ended with Britain being forced to borrow billions from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 50 years ago.
Dr. François Faivre, a 58‑year‑old Parisian surgeon who confirmed to investigators that Brigitte Macron underwent gender-affirming surgery in the American Hospital in Paris, was found dead on June 29 after what authorities described as a “terrible fall” from his fourth‑floor window in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.

I think the first way they’ll “acquire” people’s houses in Britain is by privatising the NHS. Then if you don’t have huge savings to pay treatment costs when elderly if you or your wife need care, you either take out a loan using equity in your home, or maybe you’re forced to sell the house. Or suffer the pain.
The second way which they’ll be more keen to explore because they don’t want to wait until everybody’s old to get their houses, is to use prohibitive property rates. In Britain it’s council tax. They won’t have to charge ridiculous rates like £20K per year which could cause an uprising if £5K per year would do it. They wouldn’t say they’re charging you ~£100 per week, they would say (if your house is worth £100K) the charge is 0.001% of the value of your house per week. Start “low”, then they can go higher.

Someone is telling big lies in Australia. The government said we are short a million homes, YET they said the population has not changed and is stable at around 26 million. Why do we need more housing if the population is stable? All lies. Given that every rural town is twice the size. Given that the housing sprawl around some capital cities is 250 km I believe the actual population is around 40 million. After covit I believe the government has brought in over 15 million migrants. This is the real reason we have a housing shortage. OR is the government setting up an inventory of spare rooms to house the millions that will flee here when the war starts, in which case I have enough room for four blonds.
Criminal babylonian banksters and company so OD in greed.
The treasonous politicians in Lostralia should have been chased through the streets and slaughtered years ago, certainly when that vicious war was waged on the citizen-slaves by the regime there during the convid-19(84) full-spectrum terror campaign.
During the convid slavedemic, I watched in shock at the egregious abuses that the Lostralians were subjected to, and took, everything other than Demon Dan Andrews knocking on every door and pimp-slapping whomever answered with a big rubber dong. While, in my area, there were no real abuses and the only thing that happened was some restaurants closed for a few weeks, which did us a favor.
My girl and I have enough equity in our home, a beautiful property, that we have just sold it and bought something very nice in cash with the equity. No more massive mortgage, no Jew compound interest on a mortgage, we’ll own it free and clear right out of the gate. While I am vigorously opposed to the idea of “property taxes”, through which you don’t truly “own” something, that shakedown on our new property is only about $1.7k per year, which is probably less than what I spend on good scotch over the course of a year. If anyone, and I mean anyone, shows up to try to take it away, I guarantee that they will not walk away alive.
You get the treatment you allow.
LOL..
the most hysterical thing about it would be that the imbeciles would actually pay it..it’s a matter of perception you see, the common imbeciles perception is a construct, the wet ware automoton is given an operating system at birth, programmed and updated by the hollow men via the mediaplex..it’s primary function is to override and bypass any thoughts of autonomy or real critique..
for example, digital currency, which to most people who aren’t a bit-coin imbecile, seems impractical and suspicious, yet they use debt yes, debt, not debit or credit cards and paper and have for fifty years.. before that they actually had a unit of value in silver or gold coins..which would have to be paid..we even have the legacy term on pirate rock, pound sterling!…
of course that went the way of I promise to pay the bearer on demand and the dodo..and now of course they want your living space and probably your stamp collection too…because of the shareholders..who happen to be the company..who is the shareholder…
It’s highly likely that if the corporate feudalists get their way and some enterprising private merc company hasn’t pushed them off a roof in the financial district and enslaved all their women. that most of the proles will be living in barrels…sharing their shit stained underwear…and living off phisore injectables.. and spit..
Remember all the best young men who sacrificed their lives and destroyed civilization as much as they could for our freedom. They would never have believed the future they created
If ownership of property to either increase or preserve equity, or to rent out was, not advantageous to owners then neither private equity firms nor governments would be buying up property.
The privacy rights of owning a home outright with all of the responsibilities in maintaining it is half the headaches than being a tenant on the landlord-tenant tightrope. The same can be said with every repair or improvement you make in a strata unit being subject to a politicized strata council.
As for homeowners in the West who have paid off their homes with their kids growing up and then moving out to their own abodes, why if they have slaved away to pay the mortgage interest plus principal, plus paying property taxes every year, can they not enjoy the extra bedroom space for their own use and enjoyment. As for equity, in most cases the purchase of a home was the only real hedge open to them not just against crookedness of government-made fiscal inflation, but also for an increase in equity for a secure retirement. In Canada government workers have “indexed” pensions to hedge agaist inflaction, but the government and old age security payments are never really that adequate even if indexed and most of the retirees are on private pension plans that are not indexed.
In any case home owners should be free for quiet enjoyment of their earned and investment holdings and free of government equity and bedroom taxes. Otherwise we become total slaves at the mercy of government handouts and rent controls. It the government wants more housing then it is up to the government to provide more jobs so people can buy them for what they are worth at the time, and it must stop this socialist business of just looking around to see what they can grab for free to distribute to unproductive needy types they have flooded into our nations, or the inhabitants they have displaced with low-cost labor, high taxes, and programs to cause more and more dysfunction. Legalizing narcotics and making them readily available to the public is only one example of their stealth.
The great reset plan calls for more and more centralized controls over virtually everything. The hallmark of personal freedom has always been having a family and children and also owning of home. The top-down order is both anti child and anti private property. That is a fact, and it being a fact we should be looking more carefully at the so-called “housing crisis”, and be asking if it like the global-warming scam and the Covid plandemic, and a problem deliberately created by the globalist Controllers such that they would have a visible pretext to own everything and to concentrate and consolidate more and more powers and controls over us.
In Canada where homes were not affordable for working families in one area, then generally would migrate to other areas where they were affordable. What makes them unaffordable is simply the demand for them, but the selected immigrants coming in appear to have had no difficulty finding jobs and buying homes, if not in the most-expensive areas then in the less-expensive ones where they usually pool their incomes and equities and build larger and better homes, than even what you find in the richer areas.
As for the number of homeless people these days it seems to be more directly correlated with the interest of the money-power owners who want to own everything – which entails that it is their intention that we own nothing in the foreseeable future. Yet, a few thousand homeless people is no excuse for saying there should be a bedroom tax on homeowners, nor is it an excuse where in some areas the younger people cannot buy a home in certain areas because they are too expensive for them. In the 1980’s when mortgage rates peaked over 21% in which the banksters were screwing over the baby-boom generation, if most cases there was no equity left over to invest in anything else than your home, if you wanted any security for the future.
Today when we look around at the job situation, we see that everything possible has been committed against the people in order to kill economic incentive, and it is all coming from that top-down money-power cartel brainwashing everyone into a New World Order “degrowth” mentality (their word), while doing everything in their power to make more and more people completely dysfunctional, dependent and dumbed down. The right of them and their puppet governments to lie to us is only one irrefutable example of their true intentions. They manufacture problems to impose their control-freak solutions. Where homelessness abounds you will always find socialist governments. However, instead of building units they are now counting bedrooms and working hand-in-glove with the “ownership” tribe to ensure as many individual people as possible will own nothing by 2030.
Knightley babbles on: “An Australian think-tank has proposed a radical solution…..”
Ask your readers (and yourself) an important question: When, where or why should Australia have its own “Think-tank” after having lived through a history of brain fogged Come on Wealth hypnosis while being pillaged, raped and utterly exploited by the noble long nosed “Pirate rock Sirs” of the kosherized mother country while happily swinging union jacks sewed onto southern crosses made in China and waltzing Matildas serving as instant harlots while constantly being used as canon fodder when “the mummy of all Poms” was/is again in need of some more pillaging elsewhere?
Subjects in the realm are/were never allowed to think Kit Knightley. Not even the holly Knights in shining armor that once upon a time (in fairy tales) came to the rescue of the poor – do think anymore for themselves since at least 5 centuries of “divine” intervention.
On simple terms: Boomers accumulated to many goodies when times were better. Houses are too big and valuable and only have one or two old fart occupants and that along the way to happy and modern 15 minute cities does not abode too well. Besides millionaire Ozzy career politicians who think (cough, cough) for “handicapped” subject Aussies do not like competition in the Ozzy way of life.
Keep it simple guys.
‘They’ openly call for our destruction.
‘They’ formulated & operate the Compound interest schemes.(& tax)
‘They’ are the enemy & have to be confronted/Eliminated.
Oh ! & ALL the whiled’z pO- li cE forces are the 1st line of compromised complicit antagonists.

Allowing far too many immigrants into Australia is the problem especially the dregs of the third world.

What about Buckingham Palace? How many spare bedrooms do they have?
Who would benefit with these thousands of homes coming on the market? Answer,,, the same that’s buying up all the homes today inflating the cost. .
It may be news in Australia, but it’s old news in the UK. A ‘bedroom tax’ was introduced years go. It applies only to state owned housing, It was obviously intended to eventually to apply to privately owned housing as well, but they got cold feet and haven’t extended it … yet. Sold to the public as ‘freeing up homes for families’, in reality it frees up room for immigrants. Some areas of the UK (coastal towns especially, as these are often full of retirees who die and greedy families want to sell quickly), are now almost entirely owned by shadowy property companies.
