The Americans didn’t even beat the British in their American War of Independence, the French army won it for them, and Brits even wore Redcoats to make it easier for them and still, they only just scraped through.
Also the Spanish navy blockaded the ports in favour of the Ameicans, all of this as the Brits were fighting Napoleon on and off for years across south and western Europe.
