It’s a policy to avoid proper taxation on the income and wealth of the rich by making all ordinary property owners pay as well as rich property owners – on which there will be a ceiling on rates payable that are too high for most people to take advantage of, and which will become ANOTHER tax break for the rich that passes the tax/rates burden to most others, and is as hard-core capitalist as it is possible to be.
By the time they’ve taxed everything but the rich, and they realise the only thing left they can tax now is the rich, they’ll introduce wealth taxes too late to save any economy. They’ll wait until the kitchen’s ablaze before deciding now’s the time to go out and buy a fire extinguisher.
If you have to make annual payments to the govt or else it will take something away from you that you bought and paid for, do you really own it?
That’s the same as when the mafia charges store owners protection money so their store won’t burn down or blow up.

Funny, but not the least bit funny, that “economic fairness” is the burden of the poor working slob rather than the rape & robber class of “bankers”, rigged marketeers and insider traders, backed by their federal “government” cartel goons and parasites. Of course, even if your house is paid off, you never really own it…just try not paying your “property taxes” for a couple of years and see how that goes. But now even that isn’t good enough for the likes of Carney and his band of rapists. Revolution Now, with a whole lot of rope.
