A country that has its own currency, can’t go bankrupt, technically, because they can just print, and print. The US has been bankrupt for some time, because the Federal Reserve Bank buys US debt. No one, or very few will buy US debt.
It used to be, and still is with client states, that Amarika would stride the planet with a big baseball bat. This was in effect, and extortion racket, exactly like the mob would run, and the US would literally cause your country immense pain if you didn’t pay up, but there came a point when global savings weren’t enough to match growing US debt, or, they decided collectively, to not pay up, and in some cases, dump worthless US paper.
It used to be the case that China held most US debt. That was many years ago, but since then, it’s the Fed who keeps producing credit cards for the Nazi US regime. Theses are special credit cards, because they never get paid off.
Listen to Musk’s words. He talks about bankruptcy, but specifically, avoiding bankruptcy. No has ‘paying off the debt’ on their radar, because this is an impossibility.

The government, being sovereign, can issue its own currency debt and interest free, so why borrow? Would you borrow if you had a machine that you can use to create money at will? Of course not! And I would add that in addition to funneling billions to the billionaire class the ultimate motive of running these deficits so freely is to enable to the banksters who own the Federal Reserve to take possession of US government lands, minerals, and other assets. These are worth many times more than the national debt; however, once the government can no longer pay interest on its debt (i.e., interest payments exceed tax revenues), then the banksters can effectively foreclose on it, and cease its assets. We’ve seen a dress rehearsal of this in Greece for instance in recent years. However, when this is done to the US government, it will be a catastrophe that will impact the lives on everyone on Earth, and, I believe, Musk knows that based on the rate of increase in the national debt, we are only a few years away from this…i.e., the point at which interest payments exceed tax revenues.
This is not to say, however, that he is right in the way that he is proposing to cut expenses…see my previous posting above for how to do that properly. His way is to let business proceed as usual for military contractors and other billionaire recipients of the Federal largesse while impoverishing the common folk…in other words, the usual bullshit…except this time around we are all much better informed as to what’s going on…at least we have the ability to be!
