A day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to step down, Mr Trump said he believed the US’ northern neighbour should become the 51st US state, even posting maps on social media showing Canada as part of the US.

US president-elect Donald Trump has refused to rule out military or economic action to seize the Panama Canal and Greenland – as he said he believes NATO spending should be increased to 5% per member state.
Speaking at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Mr Trump made a series of sweeping claims on what his policies could look like when he takes office on 20 January.
He said he believes NATO spending should be increased to 5% per member state, while he also declared US control of Greenland and the Panama Canal as vital to American national security.
The 78-year-old Republican also spoke of relations with Canada, as well as addressing his position on the Middle East and the war in Ukraine.
Sky News takes a look at some of the key claims brought up during the conference.
NATO
Mr Trump claimed “nobody knows more about NATO than I do”, before adding: “If it weren’t for me, NATO wouldn’t exist right now.
“I raised from countries that weren’t paying their bills, over $680bn. I saved NATO, but NATO is taking advantage of us.”
The president-elect also said members of NATO should be contributing 5% of their GDPs (gross domestic product) to defence spending – the previous target has been 2%.
Greenland and Panama Canal
Asked if he can reassure the world he won’t resort to military action or economic coercion in trying to get control of the areas, he said: “No, I can’t assure you on either of those two.”
“But, I can say this, we need them for economic security.”
He didn’t add any further detail around Greenland – which he has recently suggested the US should own or control – but he said the Panama Canal “was built for our military”.
He said the canal was “vital” to the country and China was “operating” it.
Mr Trump criticised the late Jimmy Carter for his role in signing over the Panama Canal to Panama during his presidency, saying it’s “a disgrace what took place” and “Jimmy Carter gave it to them for one dollar.”
Canada
He mocked Mr Trudeau by calling him “governor” rather than prime minister.
He argued the US and Canada combined would amount to an “economic force” that would “really be something”.
“There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States,” Mr Trudeau responded.
Israel-Hamas war
Israel has been waging a 15-month war on the militant group ruling Gaza, Hamas, since they launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on 7 October which saw 1,200 people massacred and about 250 taken hostage, many of whom remain in captivity.
Mr Trump said: “If those hostages aren’t back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East.”
Nearly 46,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s assault on Gaza, according to Hamas-run health officials in the enclave.
Ukraine war
Referring to Russia’s ongoing full-scale war against its smaller neighbour, Mr Trump said a “big part of the problem” was Russian President Vladimir Putin had said for many years he did not want Ukraine involved with NATO.
“Somewhere along the line [outgoing President Joe] Biden said you can join NATO,” he said.
“Well, then Russia has NATO right on their doorstep.
“When I heard the way Biden was negotiating I said ‘you are going to end up in a war’ and it turned out to be a war.”
Asked if he would commit to keep supporting Ukraine during negotiations with Moscow, Mr Trump quipped: “Well, I wouldn’t tell you if that were the case.”
Offshore drilling
Mr Trump repeated one of his favourite phrases from the campaign trail, “drill, baby, drill”.
On Monday, outgoing President Biden moved to ban new offshore oil and gas developments along most US coastlines.
But Mr Trump, who has vowed to boost domestic energy production, said he will undo it.
“We’re going to be drilling a lot of other locations,” he said.

One has to realize that without the Soviet Union and the threat communism kept alive it would have been far more difficult for the US to spread its eagle wings as it did. Of course, the historical facts now reveal that it was the international banking cartel [mostly the Rothschild Jewish one] which spawned the entire communist movement and planted it in Russia. They kept funding that communist regime ever since the 2017 revolution, and the USSR all through the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and right up to the dissolution of the USSR in 1992. They kept it alive and well and were able to support through the USSR other communist regimes, and even Mao’s regime in China.
The US was not independent of that money power but also was, and still is, controlled by it. Also, Russia since 1992 is not independent of that power and neither is China, which in fact is another Rothschild prodigy nation. It has been most useful since Kissinger and the 1970’s in debt rigging the entire West. That control is exactly why both Russia and China followed the same Covid script as the US-led West.
Looking back at the history, and even though trade was opened with China in the 1970’s, which was a far-more repressive communist regime than the USSR at the time, the US propaganda machine did its best to keep the communist boogeyman threat alive through the 1980’s. Wherever they could create the threat of a Marxist takeover, using the pretext of its “spread”, they justified very easily with the US establishment (always eager of economic opportunities and something for nothing) all expenditures and every single foreign incursion, taking over a host of peaceful and stable nations. What the evidence shows is that despite all of their platitudes about freedom and self-determination, is that US shit smells worse than any other rapacious empire of the past.
The evidence also shows that in all probability that the USSR before 1992 (“Russia” since 1992) was an accomplice with the US in all of the nation plundering operations. In Afghanistan they even switched roles back and forth in their various efforts to conquer the place. On the world stage, both the US and Russia are the leading criminal nations. The undeniable evidence is that they have a history of running a huge global protection racket in infiltrating and destabilizing nations in order to take them over, with the US which is the major bumboy nation of the nefarious banking cartel gobbling up more and more nations into its control.
Russia was also used in the very panned war in the Ukraine to carve it up and its alleged threat is now being used by the US for its proposed acquisition of Greenland, and we no doubt will hear Trumped-up and insane justifications that it is necessary that the US now annex the place – in order to protect northern sea routes and Scandinavia from a Russian invasion. So, despite the collapse of communism Russia is still performing its bumboy work for the cartel by serving as a proxy enemy in order to justify trillions in MIC expenditures in the US, both to maintain the many US bases around the world and to ensure US expansionism. Russia was not hurt by any sanitations in the proxy Ukrainian war. It has a GDP about the same as Canada, but its economy was protected for its services of invading the Ukraine by the banking cartel, as was the Ruble, and the NG pipelines from Russia to the EU going right through the Ukraine, and right through the war. It is all bullshit, but with the slaughter of millions and the illegal transfers of lands, wealth and assets on a scale which the world has never seen before.
The US, now with a very pushy megalomaniac and Jewish-entitlement orientated acquisitor at the helm, and with a majority of the people looking at huge gains on the map for the Greater America Project, they surely will turn a blind eye to the criminal methods and stealth employed for their gains, just as they have done so with respect to their Israeli compatriots murdering Palestinians and filching their lands for the Greater Israel Project, which, by the way, Mr. Trump fully supports.
