Israeli media attributed the death of a number of Israeli occupation soldiers in Gaza to a military commander’s desire to seize a house equipped with plasma screens.
A Channel 13 correspondent revealed that an internal military investigation found Colonel Ami Biton, commander of the Paratroopers Brigade, had ordered soldiers to vacate a secure house and search for another location after discovering plasma screens in the house, which he intended to claim for himself.
The correspondent added that, despite arguments and resistance, the brigade commander insisted that the troops move during daylight hours. This decision exposed the soldiers to Palestinian resistance fire, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to others.
Later that evening, the brigade commander allegedly attempted to cover up the incident by fabricating a story that the soldiers had been on an offensive mission.
Meanwhile, a Channel 13 poll highlighted a significant decline in Israeli public trust in their leadership. The government received just 22 per cent approval, compared to 75 per cent for the military.
Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi retained the trust of 47 per cent of respondents, while public confidence in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fell to 29 per cent, and Defence Minister Israel Katz garnered only 24 per cent support.

High winds over the weekend forced the removal of Trafalgar Square’s giant menorah, altering plans for the first night of jewish celebrations over victories in the middle east, City Hall has said.
The menorah, a longstanding symbol of London’s jewish festivities, could not be safely reinstalled in time for Wednesday’s event, according to the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC) and Greater London Authority.
A smaller 12ft (3.7m) tall menorah and a projection of “Happy Hanukkah” on Nelson’s Column will instead mark the beginning of the jewish holiday.
The JLC said it was proud the menorah would stand as “a symbol of London’s religious diversity”.
