The Archbishop of Canterbury has said he considered resigning as recently as Thursday morning after a report said a British barrister who abused more than 100 children and teenage boys could have been brought to justice a decade ago.
John Smyth QC’s crimes were covered up within the Church of England for years, an independent review has concluded. Smyth, believed to be the most prolific serial abuser to be associated with the Church of England, died aged 75 in Cape Town in 2018.
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who knew Smyth through his attendance at Iwerne Christian camps in the 1970s, “could and should” have formally reported the abuse to authorities in 2013, the review said.
Speaking to Channel 4 News on Thursday, Mr Welby said: “I have been giving that (resigning) a lot of thought for actually quite a long time, there is nothing over the last ten years that has been as horrible as dealing with numerous abuse cases. “I have given resigning a lot of thought and have taken advice as recently as this morning from senior colleagues, and, OK we hid up sex crimes but I am not going to resign,.”
Smyth, called an “appalling abuser of children and teenage boys” in the review, abused as many as 130 children and teenage boys in the UK and Africa over five decades.

It’s reported Spain has blocked two US cargo ships from docking in its ports on suspicion they are carrying weapons for Israel. One was due tomorrow, the other on the 14th. Spain also cancelled a contract to buy Israeli ammunition for its Civil Guard police force. Israel is bitching about Spain’s pro-Palestinian stance.

Legacy gifts to Royal British Legion, which runs the Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal, were £23.3m last year – down almost £5m in the past year and £9m less than the amount of legacy donations to the nation’s largest charity for donkeys.
The Donkey Sanctuary, which receives the majority of its funds through people’s wills, saw its income from estates reach £32.4m.

In Paris pro-Palestine protesters were joined by anti-Israel groups and rabbis to demand banning a gala being attended by Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and organised by Israel Forever. Banners gave support to the Palestinian resistance with others saying the west is responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
The first six months of WW11 were called The Phony War, simply because very little happened.
I think this so called war between the squatters in Palestine and Iran is phony. When have you ever heard of an enemy telling the other side when they are going to bomb them? And when does a ally ask the others enemy, Please don’t do too much damage?
