The idea that Iran would want to assassinate Donald Trump is predictable even if it is improbable. Tehran already has enough problems with mounting tensions with Israel. The last thing it would want is to give America a pretext to join Israel on a military campaign against the Islamic Republic.
And that’s exactly what would happen if Tehran were found to be involved in an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
The only beneficiaries of an assassination attempt would, of course, be Israel and they wouldn’t even have to try too hard to make it look convincing.
As with “Saddam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction”, little hard evidence would be required. All the war planners would need would be repeated media allegations of Iranian involvement in the assassination attempt to convince the U.S. public to support military action against Iran.
Just as once happened with Saddam Hussein and his alleged “Weapons of Mass Destruction”.
Will it work?
Much has changed in the last twenty years and we would like to think that the Western public is not as gullible as it once was. Some bitter lessons were learned in Iraq and Afghanistan. Both conflicts helped expose the duplicity of Western powers and the growing reach of the Internet has further assisted in this.

Trump team requests military-level security citing threats from Iran

Former President Trump’s team has requested added security, including military aircraft, to further protect the GOP nominee in the final stretch of the 2024 presidential election, citing threats from Iran.
Trump campaign co-manager Susie Wiles made a bevy of requests to Secret Service director Ronald Rowe Jr., including providing military aircraft that can shoot down surface-to-air missiles as the former president campaigns in battleground states, The Associated Press (AP) reported.
The development was first reported by The New York Times.
The campaign’s request also included armored vehicles, expansion of temporary flight restrictions over Trump’s residencies and rallies, and additional funding for local law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Secret Service (USSS). Wiles asked the USSS to pre-place the ballistic glass in all seven swing-states at Trump’s outdoor rallies.
Trump’s team is looking to protect the Republican nominee on the same level as President Biden.
“Today, the former President is receiving the highest levels of protection,” Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement to The Hill. “The Secret Service will remain vigilant and continue to adjust and enhance its protective posture as needed to mitigate evolving threats.”
The push for additional protection comes after the former president was the target of two assassination attempts in the last few months. During a rally in Pennsylvania in July, his ear was grazed by bullet. In another incident last month, a man was arrested and charged for allegedly pushing the muzzle of a rifle through the fence of Trump’s golf course in Florida.
In late September, Trump was also briefed by intelligence officials about Iran’s alleged threat against his life, a month after a Pakistani national with alleged links to the Iranian government was charged with plotting to commit a political assassination in the U.S.
“Assistance from the Department of Defense is regularly provided for the former President’s protection, to include explosive ordnance disposal, canine units and airlift transportation,” Guglielmi said in a written statement.
“Other enhancements the Secret Service has made include Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) over the former President’s residence and when he travels,” he added. “Additionally, the former President is receiving the highest level of technical security assets, which include unmanned aerial vehicles, counter unmanned aerial surveillance systems, ballistics and other advanced technology systems.”
His comments come after the House and Senate passed legislation earlier this month to bolster security around political candidates, a move seen as a win for the Trump campaign.

Plaid Cymru members have called for a boycott of Israel over the war on Gaza.
The Welsh national party has declared Israel an “apartheid regime” guilty of “genocide, ethnic cleansing and war crimes” during its autumn conference in Cardiff on Saturday.

A motion put forward by the party’s four MPs called for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from the UK “until such time as the Israeli government ends its apartheid and illegal bombing actions (on Gaza)”, and for the Government to ban weapons and torture equipment sales to Israel
More than 40 Welsh hospital aid workers have since been killed as part of the war, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Proposing the motion – which was supported unanimously – Ben Lake, MP for Ceredigion Preseli, said the war urgently needed a political settlement, including recognition of a Palestinian state.
He said: “If we want to see a safer world, then international law needs to be respected.”
The motion states that members of Plaid believe there must be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, for hostages to be freed and an end to the occupation of Palestine.
It calls for the UK to support the work of the International Criminal Court in investigating potential war crimes committed by Nutenyahu the Israeli government.
The motion also calls for all members of Plaid Cymru, as well as Welsh national sporting and cultural bodies, to support an “economic and cultural boycott” of Israel.
Ahead of a vote on the motion, the conference heard from Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian’s top envoy to the UK, who said Israel must be “compelled” to meet its international obligations.
Mr Zomlot said: “Your role now is to continue reminding the UK Government of its own obligation under UK domestic law before international law.
“These obligations are clear, there must be an immediate ceasefire that should lead to an end to Israel’s presence in the occupied territories in one year.
“If Israel continues to reject the international will, and it will reject, as it has been rejecting, Israel must be compelled to comply.”
Mr Zomlot’s call for an arms embargo was met with applause from Plaid members.

Nearly 500 migrants have made the crossing of the Channel to the UK in one day.
According to Home Office figures, a total of 471 people arrived in nine boats on Saturday October 12, following 142 in two boats on Friday.
The latest arrivals bring the total so far for 2024 to 27,225 which is a 5% increase on the same time last year but 25% less than 2022.y October 12 2023, 25,931 people had made the crossing and in 2022, 36,491 had arrived.
The crossings on Saturday came a week after four people, including a two-year-old boy, died after two boats got into trouble off the coast of France on Saturday October 5.The fatal incidents came on the same day as 973 migrants crossed in 17 small boats, the biggest daily number this year. But these “initiatives” are only partly about profits for film studios and authors. The real deal is about setting up false prophets for the disaffected people to follow. And the reason why people believe is that they are passionate and by degrees, ignorant. Part of this ignorance is the need to follow. Since they can’t read, analyse, and think for themselves, they invest in a politician or internet talking head who they hope will fight the “enemy”. But the enemy is scarcely who anyone thinks it is.
