Genevieve Holl-Allen – The Telegraph Oct 5, 2024
Labour has suffered a dozen by-election defeats in less than a month as it grapples with the row over donations and freebies.
Sir Keir Starmer’s party has lost council seats across the country to all parties since mid-September, in a blow to his premiership in his first months in office.
Labour has had a net loss of 11 councillors since Sept 16, results far worse than the Conservatives who have gained four seats in the same period and Reform gaining two.
Analysts warn that the by-election results confirm the “lack of honeymoon” for the Prime Minister, with voters already keen to “punish” Labour.
It comes after weeks of negative headlines for the Government over Sir Keir and other Cabinet ministers accepting donations and freebies.
The Prime Minister received thousands of pounds from Lord Alli, a Labour peer, for glasses and clothing, including for his wife, and the use of an £18 million penthouse during the election campaign.
Members of his frontbench team have also declared large donations from the peer.
Cabinet ministers have come under scrutiny for accepting freebies such as concert and football match tickets.
Sir Keir last week announced that he would be giving back more than £6,000 for the freebies he had received since entering Downing Street, but said his colleagues did not need to follow suit.
Since the revelations began to emerge, the Conservatives have gained five council seats from Labour in areas such as St Albans, Worthing in Sussex and in Wales.
Meanwhile, Reform UK won their first council seat in Marton, Blackpool, from Labour in a victory described by Lee Anderson, the party’s whip, as a “political tsunami”.
Luke Tryl, the director of the More in Common think tank, said that while council by-elections are “low turnout affairs” and can be affected by local circumstances, they should be a cause for concern for Labour.
“Firstly, the fragmentation of our politics into a multi-party system where the Greens and Reform occupy the Left and Right flanks is continuing.
“Secondly, the rapid drop in Keir Starmer’s approval ratings and lack of honeymoon for this administration is so far being played out in these by-elections, with voters already showing a willingness to punish Labour.”
Sir Keir has lost four seats to the Tories, one seat to the Liberal Democrats, two to the Scottish National Party and one to the Greens.
As well as Reform’s success in Blackpool, the party won a town council seat in Heanor and Loscoe in Derbyshire on Friday night.

its not about donations
you actually mean ” bribes”
But its the support for the terrorist state of israel
this has infuriated the british public
we fought 2 world wars for jews
how many more ?
and this bastard starmer is still shipping them weapons and torture equipment
such as leg braces he has the RAF based in cypris doing bombing runs on the occupied territories
MI5 will now be directed to make an effort to undermine the Reform Party. Smears and planted stories in the media will increase. Sleepers inside the party will be activated to create splits. Mysteriously well funded and informed leadership challanges will be launched.
Keir Starmer is a jew. Need we say more?
I think these by-election losses prove Labour was never legitimately elected. Starmer was never wanted. They could rig the general election because the numbers of voters in the millions were big enough to steal it with a few hundred extra votes here, a few hundred there; but when only ten to thirty thousand vote and it’s conducted under more attentive eyes it can’t be done. The best they could do is slip in a few hundred postal votes to close the swing away from them a little.
It’s easier to pickpocket in a crowd than when a few people walk around.
“They may only be local elections but the results indicate a major shift in Britain’s political landscape. In addition to a backlash against Keir Starmer’s Labour, the results also reveal growing support for the new emerged Reform Party.”
Not a major shift at all. This is a very predictable and management of the political cycle. The Reform Party as “plague on both their houses” is nothing new. Hope springs eternal for those believing change can arise in an already corrupted system. Reform will continue to win until the time comes for the Tories to steal their clothes and Reform will disappear like UKIP, the BNP, or the National Front.
Farage will have a lot of bar room intellectual support, belying a problem with the British and particularly English working class: a deference to those who “speak proper” and to whom they feel they must doff their hats. The working classes have always being willing to follow some posh git. Indeed, the deference to the pageantry of the Windsors is another aspect of “we are crap, so let’s follow a load of posh folk…”
Labour’s campaign against the lads who protested the killing of young girls by the Rwandan was and is unforgiveable
The alternative to corrupt labour politicians is, corrupt politicians from another party. When will people realise, all we will ever be to this system is toilet paper?
Maybe that last general election was the last election in which TPTB try to rig an election? If the Labour Party becomes so despised it will never have enough voters to give it a chance of winning an election again (I did say one function of Starmer would be to make Labour unelectable here ever after), and the Tories are mostly in the same distress, it makes no sense to rig any election your party cannot win.
We could end up by default with a parliamentary system close to proportional representation. Probably Reform will be the strongest party, with some hard-core Tories giving them some seats (I can’t see that with Labour), and there should be more Independents next time, especially if rigging the election is pointless and best avoided. If we get such a system then voting reform is a must, to make sure the two-party system cannot capture then corrupt the voting process. And ban all postal voting. We had proxy voting for those unable to vote in person eg serving soldiers, so we should allow only proxies again.
10 to 1 Farages Reform Party is an MarxistI5 setup too. Make the white-wing imagine they have a chance via ‘politics’ or ‘democracy’. Just as MarxistI5 manages the phony Labour/Tory scheme, so are both main parties in the USA (R/D) controlled by the CIA.
Farage is a Sephardic Jew name

Why are you allowing someone to post that you have accused and thereby inferred is an intelligence asset that has altered your website?

(I would encourage everyone to read and bookmark this. I specify posts 19 onwards.)
WAS YOUR ASSESSMENT WRONG IN WHICH CASE, YOU SHOULD SAY.
Or does your love of free speech — minus swearing of course — extend to those who might as well for example, steal from you?
By allowing this individual to post and not even caveating his posts you are allowing Mi5 (?) to steer the debate into channels that appeal to passionate and impressionable individuals, leading them away from what should surely be the remit of this website. Of course, perhaps it is very presumptuous of me to suggest that the job of TTS is “truthseeking”.
This of course raises the question of whether the said individual did alter the TTS website, which raises a question mark in turn over the TTS site itself.
WHY HASN’T THE TRUTHSEEKER WEBSITE GONE TO TOWN WITH AN EXPOSE ON THE MULTIPLE PERSONALITY POSTER GIVING CHAPTER AND VERSE ON THE WEBSITE TAMPERING?
ISN’T THIS “NEWS” IN THE REAL SENSE OF THE WORD?
WHY AREN’T YOU SHOUTING ABOUT THIS MI5 INTERFERENCE FROM THE ROOFTOPS !!!
@Anonymous.
The Reform Party has always been compromised. Those who have been seriously involved with smaller political parties get to realise this first-hand. If movements can’t be hijacked from the start then they are destroyed. Although I fancy Reform has been a special operation from the starts that has its own designated life-span. Farage is a de facto agent of TPTB posing like Trump to be his “own man”.
Where do you supposed the money comes from for Reform? All the deposits for elections? Not from passing the collecting tin around that’s for sure.
Now we realise that Brexit didn’t defend our borders like we hoped for, we might realise Brexit was TPTB leveraging ordinary people’s motivations to protect all their offshore racketeering. And Farage is associated with the City of London of course. That the Eurocrats had their own agenda is of course a given. Why should ordinary folk believe that the vote on Brexit offered anything but a plebiscite between competing oligarchies.

John Tyndall in his Spearhead articles, https://www.spearhead.co.uk/, described much to which you elude. I’m glad that the website still exists. It’s one that I will now download. Part of his best material described the destruction of the NF by Nick Griffin as well as aspects of the latter’s successful removal of himself from the BNP leadership – “who funded the glossy leaflets for the leadership challenge” etc
This article especially might be of interest.

Griffin like Farage caters for the populist non-critical public who want “attractive” leaders. While I can’t say I’m on the same ideological page of Tyndall, I have belatedly realised he was a deep thinker and a man of principle. I only saw him once when walking in the opposite direction in Leeds. He was walking with Richard Edmonds and Mike Easter (I think). It was a day in court for JT and NG. I blanked Tyndall at the time because I was in the mindspace of “Griffin the BNP prophet”. It’s a pity I didn’t take time out to speak to him, a historical figure now, but our minds had been poisoned against JT by NG.
Alas, men of principle are not so highly regarded as those who talk a good game. Few were on point to question party finances; it was all about clapping Griffin’s public performances. The Griffin family were involved with the Tories. I note that the posh git Rhys Mogg’s sister stood for Farage’s party. This illustrates the subterranean political links IMO.
Pub intellectuals have to realise there are people sufficiently financed that they can devote their whole lives to the political gaming. And I have to say this about Griffin, he was very quick on discernment and the flow and purport of a conversation he was in. I can’t say I dislike him as such. He was/is an interesting character.
The biggest thing that pissed me off was the involvement of the state via their agent Simon Darby. And this fires me up when parallel scenarios are evident to me now. I also developed an utter utter contempt for the local money grabbing Labour Party who have not one ideological bone in their collective fat uncultured and anti-intellectual body.
I have only just read the September discussion of Nico X, with its speculation about who he is, but if you answer all his posts, you do not need to know who he is: all we have here are words, and there is no need to go further
